Winnipeg Sports Car Club 16.02.2021

Shifting into a positive gear, Track Day #1 of 2021 is only 10 weeks away.

Winnipeg Sports Car Club 02.02.2021

It is with heavy heart that I unfortunately am announcing the cancellation of our 2021 Ice Race season. We were optimistically awaiting the formal wording of the new Feb 12 health guideline restrictions and unfortunately they appear more restrictive than earlier anticipated with regards to holding a gathering such as one of our ice race events. Despite the fact that the racers are all individually isolated within a car, and we could prohibit spectators, it takes many more peo...ple and volunteers to host a racing event and with a maximum organized gathering of 5 people there is no way we can adhere to the current restrictions. Despite the cancellation I would like to thank several other people that helped try and make this years season happen - Steve and Mat (for their logistical support), CLD Excavating (for their sponsorship support), Greg (tire building support) and many others who prepared their cars and helped spread the word for this years potentially awesome season. Much thanks! Stay healthy and we will hopefully see everyone on the ice in 2022! Mike D. - Ice Race Director

The WSCC is excited to announce a new activity for 2021. DirtX will debut as a demonstrative discipline. The intention is to garner some interest while keeping the requirements and cost of participation to a minimum. We plan on holding one or two events between May and September. The DirtX concept is similar to Autoslalom. Envision 1km courses on various loose surfaces. This is a timed solo sport activity where drivers can expect to hit speeds of +\- 80 Kmph. Each event wil...l feature multiple runs on more than one configuration. Cars will be classed only by AWD, FWD and RWD for this season. As long as your car is well maintained, complete and dimensionally wider than tall it SHOULD be permitted to participate. Full race cars, ice racers and heavily modified cars should speak with the director prior to attending. An SA2015 helmet will be mandatory equipment. More specific supplementary regulations will be posted soon on the forums. Welcome to DirtX

2020 is officially in the books for the Winnipeg Sports Car Club. Despite the unique challenges brought upon our summer disciplines this season, we can definitely declare this one of our most successful. Participation and engagement across the board was truly inspiring. Over 300 members unified by our love for Motorsport and Grassroots Racing took to the track and engaged in our passion. Without the countless Volunteers, Organizers, Racers and Sponsors none of this would be ...possible. It takes a tremendous amount of teamwork to make our seasons a success. Thank you! With our 2020 season now distant in our rear view, we need to look forward. 2021 presents the most significant challenge the WSCC has ever faced to this point. It’s no secret that both our home venues are facing uncertainty. Our futures at St. Andrews Airport and Gimli Motorsports Park are unknown. Expect major updates from the Board early 2021. The Winnipeg Sports Car Club was founded in 1952. Since the early 70’s GMP has been our home. This is OUR track. It’s going to take significant resources to continue our historic tenure. Spread the word to your fellow club members. In 2021 we need to save our home. I’ll close by saying Happy Holidays to all our Members, Volunteers, Racers, Spectators and Sponsors....except the ones who are trying to steal our Home.
