Now, more than ever, our children need diverse literature. They need to see themselves, their families, and their cultures reflected in the stories they read. ...I am posting books Ive read in my classroom and my Kinders and 1st Graders love (but would be appealing to any young reader.) They include stories that discuss defying gender roles, show diverse families, tell the stories of children in a variety of cultures, and celebrate characters of color. I am also providing a brief description of each story in the corresponding caption. Teachers: Please add any suggestions you recommend for my classroom library! Parents: Please browse this post. I challenge you to order your child one book from this post to diversify their library. Or, donate a book to your childs classroom library. Feel free to share this post with your friends, too!
