40-50 years ago, earlier in my riding experience, it was widely accepted that if a horse quit at a fence, there needed to be a penalty for stopping. I can even ...remember a famous Olympic rider saying, "It doesnt matter why he stopped, his fault, your fault, nobodys fault, hit him when he does that." Somehow, over the years, I began to question that. I figured that a horse stopped because it lacked confidence to go. So, if the reason my horse stopped was because he was already afraid, did it make sense to punish him, adding more fear to already existing fear? Anyway, when I got Rosies Girl, when she was 4, she was as timid a little mouse as you could find. She would trot down to a tiny one foot high cross rail, and stop dead. I never ever so much as kicked her, just let her put her head down and sniff the jump. Little by little, she gained more confidence, and eventually I gave her to Daryl Kinney to ride. Evening family ride. Hailee is finally to the point of riding by herself (even though dad chose to lead her mostly - maybe because she fell off her last two rides ), and Cornelia was an angel too!

Lily and Blondie got to see the vet today, and were angels for not just one, but two shots each! Good mares

Callie has a nosey neighbour

Heartbeat confirmed in Callie (Beaulieus Conquest x Phantast, bred to Diamo Blue (Diarado x Chacco Blue)! Also confirmed heartbeat in Mouse, our Westphalian x TB recipient mare bred to The Huntsman to break her maiden before receiving an embryo.

Callie will be the best mom next year, Ricki cant even leave the stall without Callie following her

Ricki was weaned yesterday, literally the most easy weaning we have ever done. Walked her out of her paddock with Blondie and into the paddock with Callie and done! She loves visiting with Callie and Cornelia, and they both love her. She is already learning proper horse manners (like you cant shove other horses out of their grain, or eat from their hay pile like you own it), but Callie is gentle and tells her off without hurting her. Blondie is enjoying not having a rascal steal her food now, she never once looked back, and Ricki only screamed to her mom a couple times a couple hours after weaning when she got thirsty, then she went and had some water

And we did it! Belle was so good, not a single foot out of place

Belle is ready to sit on Zero reaction yesterday to laying on her back and walking around, proud of this wildie that claims she isnt one

Well, that concludes all the horses we have for sale, wow! Thanks to everyone that contacted us with interest. For those that have been following the Belle saga, shes been classified as a keeper. No longer for sale, all mine!!

Blondie and Lily are now sold, as well! They are heading to Langley together

Freckles is also claimed! She will be moving to her new loving home on the September long weekend

Yesterday was free jump day, for the wildies, too! Im always amazed at how these horses adapt to new ideas and perform so well

Blooper time! Belle free jumping.... I put the jump up, she hit the front rail, circled around and trotted the jump, backwards, with absolutely no motivation from me, with ease and perfect form . This filly is determined to make me keep her
