#Repost @_happyasamother with @make_repost Postpartum is such a whirlwind of change. When things are changing and transitioning it is natural to want to have more control and certainty. ... It becomes problematic when we are trying to exert control over things that are outside of our control. It often leaves us feeling deflated, like we are failing or like we aren't doing a good enough job. It is more adaptive to focus on the things that are within our control rather than repeatedly trying to change or influence the behaviour of our child or partner when things feel overwhelming or uncertain. Focusing on what you can control will help you get your needs met and help build your confidence because you actually have the power to change the things you can control. What aspect of postpartum felt like the biggest loss of control to you? For me personally it was being on a little person's sleep schedule! See more

Affirmations for kids Do you use affirmation cards? We love them at our house. Sometimes they get used in the morning, sometimes in the evening before bed, and sometimes they get pulled out randomly during the day when we need a shift in energy. I absolutely love this deck for kids made by @therenegademama ... The artwork is bright and fun and there are so many wonderful messages that spark thoughtful discussions. Do you have a deck you love? Have you introduced your children to this practice? There are so many wonderful ways to work with affirmations, I’d love to hear what works for you! See more

#Repost @sisters_sage with @make_repost Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated all across Turtle Island. In Canada, Thanksgiving happens in October and has roots in colonization. The notion began with Sir Martin Frobisher in the 1700’s, an explorer who ate a meal of sausage and peas to celebrate and give thanks for his ship’s safe passage across the Atlantic and landing at Nunavut. In America, the tradition began with a story of settlers and Indians feasting together in har...mony, a lie still taught in schools. In reality, thanksgiving was a celebration of colonial soldiers slaughter and decimation of 700 Pequot men, women, and children. This time of year, Indigenous people celebrated harvest through feast, song, and dance pre-contact. Thanksgiving holds a very different meaning; thanksgiving was the beginning of colonization and attempted genocide of Indigenous nations of Turtle Island. We do not celebrate a genocidal holiday. Every year, millions of people give thanks, but do they know what for? #sisterssage #thanksfortaking #thanksgiving #decolonizeyourholiday #decolonize #genocide #residentialschool #60sscoop #indiandayschool #forcedsterilization #fostersystem #birthalerts #childwelfare #starlighttours #medicalexpetiments #mmiwg #systemicracism #joyceechaquan #tinafontaine #chantelmoore #reservesystem billc31 #indianact #johnamacdonald #killtheindiansavetheman #grassynarrows #accesstocleanwater #racism #sexualabuse #intergenerationaltrauma
