I'm going to start posting little tidbits about Doula's and what we do! . . Tidbit #1 - Postpartum Doula's are not exclusively for sufferers of Postpartum Depression. .... . The term "Postpartum" is a misleading term often used to describe Postpartum Depression, a very serious mental health condition affecting more parents than anyone ever talks about. . . The truth is, EVERY mama "has Postpartum" because that is actually the name of the period of time after giving birth ... wait, what? . . Post = After Partum = Giving Birth . . Prenatal is prior to birth (pregnancy), Postpartum is after birth. Make sense? . . Postpartum Doula's are *not* only for mama's who have Postpartum Depression. Yes, we would be a very good choice of support for a parent with PPD but the two are not mutually exclusive whatsoever. . . Postpartum Doula's are support "After Giving Birth". That means for every mama and every family with a newborn. . . Did you know this? Let me know below! See more

You're not alone. When I first started down this road, I didn't even know this role existed, let alone what they were called! . . I'd rephrase this question to ask not "what" is a Doula, but "who". The basic foundations of Doula work is connection and support. .... . There are 2 kinds of Doula's - Birth and Postpartum. Both roles are vital to supporting families in one of the most challenging (albeit rewarding) seasons of their lives. . . Stay tuned - I'll post more deets about the differences this week! . . #postpartumdoula #doulayyc #doula #selfcare #support #love See more

This little lady is the besssstttt snuggler. Calm and content - new baby smell is on point my friends. Look at that head of hair!! . . When baby is content, it means things are going well for them and you are supposed to enjoy it. But what if you don't - is something wrong with you? .... . The only right answer is: nope. . . I remember feeling so overwhelmed with hormonal changes and the neverending feeding, pumping, laundry, cold cups of coffee, realizing I hadn't eaten for a day or two - all with a toddler who didn't understand the new world we had entered with the arrival of his brother. We felt SO overwhelmed - the self-shame & blame was raw and palpable. . . We survived. It IS survivable. But it is also incredibly difficult to see the other side of that new stage in life whether you have the support or not. . . We desperately needed a Postpartum Doula. Someone to help us, listen to us, let us sleep and feed the baby while we take a bath. Take care of US so we could have the capacity to take care of our new little and bigger loves. . . We didn't know it at the time and as they say, hindsight is 20/20. How different it would have been. This is how I became a Postpartum Doula. . . Do you have someone hired to help you through the fourth trimester? . . Current availability for Postpartum clients. See more
