92 year old Lion Harry Witteveen has been a St. George Lions Club member since 1952. Lion Harry served as Club President in the 1960-61 year. He is a Melvin Jon...es Fellow and a Lions Club International Life Member. The Club's "Horse Show", started in 1962. It was first held at Harry Witteveen's farm and at the Community Centre on the ball fields. It was usually held on the Aug.1st weekend and lasted until 1982. Planning and support for a new arena began in 1967. This project was instigated by Lion Harry and he served as chair for the committee. A 3 year committment of $50 000 was a major contribution toward the $160 000 original building estimate. This amount was raised by monthly car draws, cash draws and door to door solicitation by the members, in the community. Snowmobile races were also held at Harry's farm from 1968 to 1973, with some at Ontario Park, in January. These are only a few of Lion Harry's contributions to our Club and the community of St. George.

Doug Witteveen is so Proud of his daughter Meghan. Not only is his Daughter working hard to help supply the highest quality of meat to our community. In her personal time she cares deeply about volunteerism and helping those around her, she even became an Advanced Medical First Responder a couple years ago. But what most don’t know is that Meghan graduated with an Apparel Product Developement degree & Was Selected for the Design Internship for GUESS By Marciano. She followed ...her heart by attending The Fashion Insitiute Of Design & Merchandising in LA and now this is how she has decided to use her degree for good in our community.
