Hey Wizard Lake! Quiet on the set The cast and crew have been hard at work the past 2 nights filming Abducted the Movie. You will find the suspense/thriller on FB. Some of the final scenes were filmed (until 3am) in the water at the campground. When we spoke to the director, he told us that the cast were LOVING the water and the location!! ... Did anyone hear any screams? See more

Seems like just the other day when we put these buoys out there.... Thank you to our volunteers for helping bring them back to land today.
Ready for the fall The weir was filling up thanks to the beavers. We had to call for some help clearing out the debris. As you can also see, the water is no longer flowing over the top.
Last of 4 water sampling events by Alberta Lake Management Society, LakeWatch Program, on Wizard Lake by Kyra Ford and Larry MacPherson.
Blue-green algae! - what's it all about? Also known as cyanobacteria, this toxic green bacterial growth can damage water ecosystems dramatically and release tox...ins harmful to humans and other animals. It can also take many forms, as shown in the photos taken at various lakes here in Alberta in the past month. What can we all do to prevent algal blooms? -Keep shorelines natural -Avoid use of pesticides and herbicides, especially near waterbodies -Reduce runoff of harmful contaminants - such as sewage, fertilizers, industrial and agricultural effluents, and urban stormwater. Floating island doing very well. Vegetation is all healthy. We think the muskrat might have been snacking a little on the backside though. We saw lots of birds in the area too!
Can you spot the 2 young bald eagles above their nest?
We had a successful move today. Our bio haven floating island is safe and sound at its new location. You will see it tucked near shore along the south side, at the west end of the lake.
Great to see people working to protect the health of our lakes
Down at the weir... with all of the thunder storms lately the water is flowing pretty fast. The water is very clear so you can see the bottom. No fish near the ladder today
