Women's Network PEI 06.01.2021

Good morning! We were so excited to meet Kendra Burdett last week. Kendra came by to pick up the quillwork made by Melissa Peter-Paul, as the winner of the #spr...eadthelove campaign draw for the month of December. We would love to encourage the community to sign up for monthly donations to our organization. The goal for this campaign is to raise funds that will finance the work we do for people living with and at risk for HIV and Hep C. These funds also help our organization provide drop-in programs for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in PEI and outreach programs for harm reduction and safer drug use. We are able to plan and provide these services with your donations. For a monthly donation of $10, you get 1 entry into our monthly draws for a chance to win amazing prizes. Over 10 days left in the month of January, you can still donate for a chance to win a 1-night stay at Treetop Haven Inc, $50 gift card and beanie from Upstreet Craft Brewing and a $25 gift card from Charlottetown Cheese Co ! Your donations bring us closer to our goal of $10,000! To donate: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3200 For more information: http://peersalliance.ca/get-involved Thank you for your support.

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GRITPEI Are you a woman in PEI who is working in the trades? Did you used to work in the trades? Have you attended training in the trades? We want to hear from you!... Gaining Retention In Trades (GRIT) is a project of Women's Network PEI. We are looking at the factors that influence why women stay in or leave the trades. Complete this anonymous survey and tell us about your experiences. As a part of this project we will be holding focus groups and individual interviews. If you are interested in being a part of a focus group or individual interview, please contact Kate Dempsey - [email protected]. GRIT is funded by the Interministerial Women's Secretariat

Do you want to use your imagination to tell stories together, playing as a team of comic book-style superheros? "Masks: A New Generation" is a superhero rolepl...aying game in which a team of young heros fights villains, saves lives, and tries to figure out who they are. Come create stories through play, explore strange possibilities as a new character, and roll some dice! This is a free program for queer youth aged 12 to 18 years old! This program will run on a weekly basis from 6 to 8:30pm at the Farm Centre (420 University Av, Charlottetown, PE C1A 2Y9) starting February 18 to April 1st (taking a break for March Break). If conditions with COVID changes during the program, then we will attempt to continue the program online! This program is designed for 2SLGBTQ+ youth, and we will be prioritizing registrations for marginalized youth including (BIPOC youth, genderqueer/trans youth, youth with disabilities, and neurodivergent youth such as autistic youth). Please fill out this application if you are interested. Please note that this is an application form and doesn't automatically mean that your child has been accepted. We can only take a very limited number of youth, and we will contact everyone to let them know if they have been accepted, or not. Thank you! Poster art from the book, illustrated by Michael Lunsford. Thank you to Magpie Games for donating the books, and Tatamagouche Centre for supplying snacks!! We are protesting for our land, against the kali kanoon [black law] that Modi has introduced, Baljit says. She fears the new laws will jeopardise the ownership of land that has remained in her family for generations, and she is determined to set this right"

COVID-19 has severely impacted so many people across the Island. BCSPEI recognizes that some families and members of the black community have been affected seve...rely in the uncertainty of the current pandemic health crisis. In the holiday's loving and giving spirit, the BCSPEI is embarking on its first annual Holiday Care Box project. We are preparing 25 Care Boxes for distribution to Black individuals, families, and post-secondary students in need across the Island. These packages will be available only on a first come first served basis. We owe a debt of gratitude to those who have donated items for these packages: Sobeys 0870 and Schurman Family Farm. https://form.jotform.com/203553902685257
