February is Black History Month which is a time for us to amplify Black voices and stories that so often go unheard or untold. It’s an opportunity to lean in and explore our histories, learn about activists, organizers and change makers and a time to honour resistance and resilience. Blackness is so often subjected to the margins and as the shortest month in the year, Black History Month can feel complex for a lot of folks unpacking and processing our past while still looki...ng towards the future. So this month, we are making space to highlight and celebrate trailblazers within our community and the greater nation of so called Canada - all those who have and are paving the way for the next generation . If you've never heard of any of these amazing womxn, we implore you to learn about them by checking out @kathleennb's newest piece for @refinery29canada on Black Canadian Women to Know, doing a deep dive on Google or picking up a book - but don't stop there! This month isn't about talk it's about action. @ Black Excellence

We're so excited to announce our 4th WOCDC Confab #Relationshipgoals : Navigating Love and Dating as BIPOC . As Black, Indigenous and People of Colour: - How do we manage the often high expectations that are put onto us when it comes to finding a partner? - How do we demystify unrealistic relationship goals that are shown to us in media? ... - How do we begin to center our own wants and needs in an effort to express our freedom to choose what's best for us? Come out and engage with us online as we dive into an informal discussion where we get to lead with curiosity, express our thoughts and learn alongside others. This free event is curated for BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) from the ages of 18 and up and all those who attend will be entered into a raffle to win some amazing prizes! This Confab will be lead by our amazing conversationalists: @room.2.grow @kerrysutra @gabriellarhea and @thesherriontop Registration for this event is now live at https://wocdcrelationshipgoals.eventbrite.ca Link in bio

In line with our value of continued improvement and innovation, our team has developed a series where we can make space for open dialogue and begin to unpack some of the things we are learning and unlearning together. As an organization that is run by, for, and with Black, Indigenous and self-identified Womxn of Colour (BIWOC), we understand that the term BIWOC can be confusing, othering and minimizing when it comes to the diverse experiences of racialized womxn. So we're her...e to unpack it alongside you. We invite you to let us know what your thoughts are about the term BIWOC as we continue to explore how best to show up and make for community. @ Durham Region
