Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend and with the current pandemic still in the works, things are going to look a little different. This will be the first time many of us celebrate Mother’s Day without coming face to face with our moms. So, here are a few ideas from Good House Keeping to help keep the day special while we practice social distancing. (Psst.. this is a great post to share if you need to give some family members ideas ) 1. Breakfast in Bed Breakfast in bed i...s a classic Mother’s Day surprise! If you can’t be there in real life order your mom breakfast from her favourite local restaurant and have it delivered for when she wakes up! 2. Write a Message in the Driveway Ask the kids to lend a hand and their artistic talent over at mom’s. Create a colourful message in the driveway using sidewalk chalk that tells her just how special she is. It’s something she can enjoy without meeting face to face and it should stay for a few days at least. 3. Deck out her front door Bring a colourful spring wreath with you (or make one yourself!) to deck out mom’s front door when you drop off your card and gift. It will brighten her day and leave a lasting reminder for weeks. 4. Watch a Mother-Daughter movie together If you can spend the day in person, a movie is a great way to spend time together. If you can’t cozy up on the couch, consider a virtual movie night. Call each other at the start to play the movie at the same time, then sit back and text each other about all the funny or tear-jerking moments. It’s a little out of the ordinary, but what hasn’t been out of the ordinary lately? 5. Leave a party worthy spread at her door Some mom’s like to wake up to great meal, other’s like to pick their favourites. Put together a fun pre-cooked mini buffet for mom and deliver it to her. Maybe it’s a selection of bagels with all the toppings for her to choose from, or a ready to eat taco making spread where all she has to do is unpack and start loading her favourite fixin’s you name it. Do these sound like fun social distancing ideas for Mother’s Day? What are your plans?
