Women in Music Canada would like to hear directly from both members as well as other women, female identifying and gender non-conforming individuals within the Canadian music community, regarding the impact of Covid-19. We will be anonymously aggregating responses to create a framework for our programming as well as communicating these priorities to the Canadian music industry stakeholders and all levels of government.
You’re invited! Learn what it takes to release music without a label. RSVP http://www.womeninmusic.wildapricot.org/event-3972608
Some inspiring Sunday reading for you - a great article with manager Ty Stiklorius on her history, how she’s navigating the current climate, and some things in the music industry that need to change. https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/ty-stiklorius-follo/
Over the last week, we’ve been listening, watching, marching, and reading. We see you, we hear you, and we stand with you in the fight for justice and against racism. We are currently revisiting our programming for the remainder of the year to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our community. We look forward to sharing these updates with you in the coming weeks. If there are programs that you’d like to see or if you’d like to be involved, please reach out to us. If you’re looking for resources for your own work, we suggest this working document of scaffolded anti-racism resources created by: Anna Stamborski, M. Div Candidate (2022), Nikki Zimmermann, M. Div candidate (2021), and Bailie Gregory, M. Div, M.S. Ed.
Hello everyone - we wanted to let you know that we had lots of workshops upcoming that we were very excited about, and in light of recent events we are currently working on bringing them online instead of in person. Hopefully this can keep the community engaged while also keeping it safe and healthy! In the meantime if you need immediate support through these challenging times, Unison Benevolent Fund is a great resource: https://unisonfund.ca/covid-19-statement ... Take care of yourselves and one another!
A core value of Keychange is to break down the barriers that people face because of their gender. This year these dynamite people selected to participate in the Keychange Program will create solutions, networks, initiatives, and long term plans to balance gender inequality on the stage and in the boardroom. So proud to see our own Savannah Wellman representing BC! https://keychange.eu//74-new-participants-announced-for-o/
