One of our community partners is adding to their team. If you like working with your hands and creating, you could be the perfect fit! Possible candidates should have some familiarity with basic woodworking machinery like table saws, mitre saws, and routers, handheld power tools, and hand tools. Reliable transportation needed. If you would like to learn more, call Karen at 519-421-2077 today.

QUESTION and FEEDBACK! WERC is offering a FREE 12 week employability skills course closer to the end of September. This will be hosted on site. Would you feel comfortable attending this course in person? Our classroom is set up with dividers between each desk and all desks are separated at a minimum of 6 feet. Maximum seating in this room is 7 adults plus a facilitator. Our computer lab has decreased in capacity by 50% leaving a maximum of six participants for computer u...pgrading. Our sewing workshop room is also equipped with dividers for safety. Please see attached pictures of classrooms. All clients and staff must fill out a COVID-19 screening questionnaire upon entry each day and masks are required on site (unless medically unable). Please provide your feedback below so we can have a sense of how we can facilitate this program for the fall. We so appreciate this information to help us prepare!

THE CHALLENGE IS ON!!!! (Answer and you could win a prize - random draw!) TRANSFERABLE SKILLS: Skills you learn at work, learn at home and through life experiences. Many of us have no idea how many skills we have or how to sell these skills to a potential employer on your resume or in the interview. Who can tell us how many skills you have or better yet, make us a list! Let us know by Friday, September 4th!

WERC Summer Update! WERC is pleased to be Back in Business!. Sort of. While we are physically back on site we are rotating staff in and out to minimize contact between staff and clients. The week of July 20-24 we are working together as a staff to become familiar with new policies and procedures at WERC and continuing to keep both our staff and clients safe. While we are still taking appointments virtually, our computer lab is open for your use (maximum 6 clients only ...- with sanitation procedures in place). During this week we will not be seeing clients in person unless previously arranged. There are screening protocols in place for staff, clients and visitors to the centre so pleased be advised you must complete this form each and every time you enter the centre. At this time, masks or face coverings are not mandatory for services at WERC however we will follow all guidelines mandated by Southwestern Public Health and the City of Woodstock. If you are experiencing ANY signs of COVID, have been exposed or have any symptoms of a respiratory virus, we kindly ask you NOT to enter WERC. Please rebook your appointment or request that it be scheduled remotely by phone. If you are feeling uncomfortable about having an appointment on site, we are happy to continue to provide virtual or remote employment services. We are still able to offer services by using remote technology and are still available to support your employment and job search needs. We are still doing client intakes over the phone, resumes, cover letters and job search online, helping to prepare for interviews and providing support for employment barriers. Our regular business hours are Monday to Thursday 9 4:30 and Friday 9 4. If you are an employer and are hiring please give our Job Developer Karen Nilsson a call at 519-421-2077 and she will get back to you to answer your questions and provide support. WERC has implemented the many Health and Safety protocols as required by Southwestern Public Health and the Ministry of Labour. Plexiglas sneeze guards are in place around the front reception area, in all staff offices and in the workshop rooms. PPE is in place, hand sanitizer is available to use in every room and at the front desk. Anti-bacterial soap is available in the washroom. A sign-in/screening assessment will be completed confidentially by both staff and clients coming in to the centre. Take care and be safe and healthy! Your WERC Team
