Here we go again.... Our excitement, elation and celebration about re-opening on Monday November 16th was both short lived and premature. With new restrictions including the prohibition of indoor group classes the Dojo will remain closed for the next 28 days. We are disappointed with the latest government announcement. ... As difficult as this is, try to remain positive and rest assured, once we are allowed, we will open again to provide our Members with the stellar service and instruction you all deserve. We look forward to that. We encourage our Members to be diligent about training and practising at home and to continue to be active to help mitigate the physical and mental stresses of restrictive lock-down measures. Please don’t hesitate to call, message or email us if you have any questions or you just want to reach out and touch base. * RE-OPENING UPDATE* Just an update to let everyone know that the Dojo will be open again MONDAY NOVEMBER 16th... Again, we have worked diligently to put safety first and will continue to keep safety measures in place until the end of the year. We will be calling/ messaging our Members this week to register for their preferred classes. Please feel free to call, message or email us if you have any questions. Having weathered yet another government mandated shut down it is a testament to the strength and resilience of our Members and their families. We admire your strength and appreciate tremendously the care, compassion and patience extended to us. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to speaking with all of you this week. * UPDATE * With the government announcement today rolling back to a modified Stage 2 the Dojo will be compliant and temporarily closed. Again, we have put all memberships on hold until such time when we can re-open. ... As soon as we are able to re-open, we will let everyone know. These have been challenging times for everyone. We sincerely thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support. We hope that you and your loved ones continue to stay safe, be well and keep strong.

Last week we handed out our Wong’s Back To School packages in preparation for the upcoming week. Included in the package was a special donation by N&N Afro-Indigenous Designs. The cloth mask gift was made by one of our Youth Members, Miss Nazarene Pope. Seeing a growing need in the community and a massive shortage of masks, this past March Nazarene and her mother Nichole began making cloth masks to donate to folks in the community. ... Since July over 1050 masks have been provided to community members. Miss Nazarene has since started her own online business with her childhood friend and N&N Afro-Indigenous Designs now produces vibrant cloth masks for children and adults. They have also successfully received a grant from #RisingYouth, TakingITGlobal for their entrepreneurship. We are grateful, so proud and truly honoured by Miss Nazarene’s gracious mask donation to our Wong’s Back To School package. Have a great week everyone, be safe and we will see you at the dojo!

Time flies! Hard to believe it’s the Labour Day weekend already. As we mentioned with being allowed to open at the beginning of August, there would be new measures in place to keep everyone safe. We re-evaluated and re-assessed at the end of August and will continue to keep these measures in place for the month of September. Please make sure that you have registered and confirmed for your desired class if you haven’t done so yet. Tuesday is now full and we are taking names ...for waiting list. We applaud our parents for getting their children back into a routine, encouraging exercise and physical fitness and helping to reduce their stress and anxiety regarding the upcoming school year. Well done! We are grateful to our Junior, Youth and Senior Members and their families for their continued support, perseverance and hard work this past month. *Labour Day Schedule* The dojo will be closed for the Labour Day long weekend: Friday September 4, Saturday September 5 Monday September 7 We hope you enjoy the weekend and please be safe. We have personally called, spoken to and left messages for all of our Members advising them of the schedule changes and new measures in place to keep everyone safe. * UPDATE * It has been a longer while than he had both anticipated and hoped. A massive THANK YOU to our Members and their families for the calls, messages, and continuing to keep in touch. We truly and sincerely appreciate it. It appears that all gyms have been lumped into one category and will be able to open in Stage 3. We were hopeful and optimistic that we would be opening soon but of course that is contingent upon the government green light. ... Of course there will be new measures in place to help safeguard our Members and we will communicate those measures closer to re-opening. We are keen and ready to get back to training with all of you. Happy Easter to our Members, their families and our friends. Please note the Dojo remains closed at this time but be advised that all memberships were temporarily put on hold as of March 16th. Weve already spoken to many of our members but just to make sure we posted here. It is our way of helping our members and giving everyone something to look forward to once we can resume. We hope that you and your loved ones continue to be well and stay safe.

To our Members *Update* We just wanted to reach out and touch base and update everyone. With the announcement of the closing of all non-essential services, the dojo remains compliant and closed at this time. These are challenging times for everyone and with schools closed and many working/staying home, people are frustrated, scared and even bored. ... Time away from the dojo doesnt mean that training stops. We encourage everyone to continue to practice and train at home. Challenge yourself with timed drills, cardio, kata practice, daily stretching and meditation. All will help keep you in top form when classes resume. To our junior members and their families, if you need help with academic based activities/ ideas to do at home, please email us at [email protected] and we would be happy to suggest online educational resources to help keep your child(ren) engaged and learning. We are thinking of all of you and hope that you continue to be well and stay safe.

To our Members and their families, In light of the government announcement this morning regarding indoor recreational facilities we are complying and effective this evening the dojo will be closed. We have a duty of care and responsibility to our Members and their families and this is the right thing to do. We are both hopeful and optimistic that the current situation will not last long and get back to normal as soon as possible. We are a resilient group. ... It was a tremendous day at the dojo yesterday and we would like to once again congratulate our adult members on successfully grading to their next belt. As we are not a McDojo or a belt factory, our members have demonstrated an impressive level of commitment, dedication, hard work and indomitable spirit. We are so proud of each and every one of them. To our Probationary Shodans ...your journey has just begun. Continue to train hard, be humble and remember to always set you...r bar high. Your belt is a reflection of your fortitude and perseverance. Well done and keep going! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! Our warmest Seasons Greetings this Holiday Season and all the very BEST for the New Year! Our finally class of the season was jam packed and super busy. Everyone did a brilliant job to finish out the year strong. ... Our Annual Scott Mission Food Drive wrapped up last night and we dropped the dojo donations off this morning. We would like to sincerely thank our Members and their families for their abundant kindness and generosity. Great to see both our Junior and Senior Members working hard to make a difference. Our Annual Food Drive for the Scott Mission begins this week (Dec.1) and we will be collecting non-perishable goods for the month of December until Dec. 23. Our Annual Drive continues to grow year after year and thanks to our amazing Members and their families we have been able to help a lot people. Together we can make this the Best drive yet! Halloween fun today at the dojo. Our Junior members did an outstanding job as always and to recognize all of their hard work ... Loot bags, comic books and home grown pumpkins = lots of happy excited faces. We also kicked off our Wongs Clothing Drive for Veterans this week. We are happy to accept new hats, gloves, mitten, scarves and socks that will be donated to the folks at the Tony Stacey Centre for Veterans Care on Remembrance Day. Merry Christmas Seasons Greetings Happy Holidays! In keeping with tradition we personally delivered and impressive haul of non-perishable goods this Christmas Eve morning to the Scott Mission. We cannot thank our AWESOME members and their families enough for their abundant generosity. Our annual drive continues to grow and gain momentum. We definitely surpassed last years contribution. Amazing! ... We also want to thank the folks at Scream Shot and the team at Canadian Tire (Kingston Rd. & St. Clair) for their generosity and support. We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the month of December and in keeping with tradition, delivering on Christmas Eve. Halloween arrived early this past weekend at the dojo with a special visit from Spider-Man. Lots of surprised, excited and happy faces. Happy Thanksgiving Excellent work tonight. It is so inspiring to see such dedication and hard work. We are so proud. We are thankful for our members and their families. An extra big thank you to two of our junior members for the beautiful homemade card, flowers and bison treat. So incredibly thoughtful ...
