Note: our lake loop is open to practice your stride and/or go fast! 4+ kms of flat open lake trails!... All lake and forest trails are set now and we are grooming as it snows. We have an excellent base and look forward to more snow soon!

#SkiNorthAB A great day of skiing activity. Started off grooming the trails very early (while still cool), then skied the rounds with Paul to put up new trail signs. No more getting lost! Right some of you!! Mid day saw a great training day hosted by Faye!! Some wonderful lessons for our younger members and great instruction from our older members! Finished off with a ski and gorgeous sunset!

#SkiNorthAB Nikki and I were out grooming our north hills advanced ski trail today. We also came down onto the lake and redid the blown in portions of the short loop and spruce Alley loop. Still some minor floodwater on the west end of the lake so that loop is still closed. Main long loop is open and being enjoyed by many!!... Pray for snow! See more

#SkiNorthAB All our local skiers, if you have unused skis or boots (all sizes) we are needing more for our rental opportunities. We will buy them. Most guests prefer wax-less, fish scale bottoms for skis. Reasonably modern boots with various binding types are needed. Thank you, we have enough three toe style! Happy trails!!

Father and son’s team had a great day! 35 trout to the boat! Two double headers! A double of plus 70 cms And a 79 cm to finish off the day!! Awesome good times!!

The first skiers of the year! One lap on a marginal trail but very enjoyable I’m told! Trails are not in good shape yet! Come on snow!! Debbie taking photo, she was out there too!

XC Skiers! We’re close to having the ski trails open. We’ve packed our base to near 4, allowing two of our trails to be ready soon. But the lake is not quite frozen safely. The numerous beavers are keeping lines open out from their lodges this year. That makes two of our more popular trails unusable for another week. We expect we’ll be grooming for a full open by November 21st. We’re also very interested in how many skiers would like our more challenging advanced trails groomed this year? Ie: small hills and valleys with rolling runs in between! If you can let us know and there are enough users I will have those ready too.

What a great day yesterday (Tuesday July 7). Awesome group to fish with! From 74.5 cms to 66 cms. A lot were in the 70’s!!

XC Ski season is coming at us!! Debbie and I finished clearing and mowing our trails yesterday!! Very early with the freeze we had! But first, some other great news too! See below. The very new, Cold Lake - Bonnyville Cross Country Ski Club... Les and Sarah Parsons from Bonnyville are hosting an information meeting about cross-country skiing on Thursday, October 29th at 7:00pm at the Energy Centre in Cold Lake in the Board Room on the second floor. We will practice social distancing. The Parsons have already started the Bonnyville Nordic Ski Club, and wish to invite ColdLake residents to be part of it. The Bonnyville chapter also wants to look at ways to help Cold Lake residents develop trails in your city. We'll discuss the following topics. Offerings: cross-country ski programs for youth, adults and families; learn to ski lessons; weekly/weekend ski sessions; children's programs; ski training practices for fitness and competition; ski tour adventures in our region; and hosting special ski festival events. Ski equipment: options for purchasing cross-county ski equipment at an affordable cost Ski rental program: coordinating a ski equipment rental program Ski trails in the Lakeland The trail systems in our area have the potential to create a reputation for our Lakeland region as a cross-country ski destination for local residents and skiers from across Alberta & Saskatchewan. Fall! What an incredible array and hue of colour!! At this time of year we are so VERY grateful for all of you out there that support us! Now we get ready for XC Ski season, only two months away!

We may sell our 2359 (24’) Bayliner and buy a slightly bigger boat for even more fun on the water. New one would be a 29’ for fishing and touring, with a lot more room for groups and families. There is new snow falling!! Some trails are usable if there’s hard core skiers ready to go! Rentals are ready!

Well, here it comes!! Ski season! Kinosoo Ridge Resort, just to the north of us opens in two days! Our trails should be open but we’re just short of the snow we need! Keep watching here and we’ll keep you posted!!

Hi to all, Hard to imagine winding down a summer that never really got going!. We had very little summer days in 2019, but boy did we do things with those days, with guests from all corners. Had a great time with so many new and old friends! Thanks to all!! Please share widely for anyone we may have missed! XC Skiing is our next big activity here! Enjoy and be safe!!

A great place to be when you can fish so close to home, or go for a short walk and run into a curious coyote at 30 yds (sorry, coyote was faster than me), and a cautious, but curious bull moose at 40 yds. Watching the cows come from the hills down to morning water is great too!

Thank you Rob. We have an incredible amount of fun with our guests. They too have fun and it’s great hear from you all!

Well I’ve come to the conclusion we can use a bigger boat for our guests and family. Debbie even agrees and says let’s do it!! Our current 24’ Bayliner is in fabulous condition because I’ve had to repair/rebuild/replace it from the prop to the bow windlass!! Is there interest in buying ours from our friends out there?? It really is amazing to use on any water locally and it did originally come from the west coast. There are no inland waters it can’t handle!

Two of our guests just tied their own past record of 6 double header, trout catches today! That’s right, 6 double headers in one day!! What a beautiful day it was!!

Yesterday was not a day for fishing!! But it was moisture we were asking for!!

We were very pleased to host the cast and production team for a scene shooting, Moments in space time, here at the Inn!! Meeting one of my acting and human heroes was a highlight. John Rhys-Davies is a true gentleman! Chris and Patty Cowden thank you for the pleasure of meeting each of the actors and crew!! The press conference/production party at the Grande Parlour Theatre was a great time!!

Wow! Summer is upon us! Some days, hard to see that! but it’s coming. RV sites are ready!! Looking forward to meeting you!
