September is dyeing month. Fewer bugs to torment me since I do it in the garage, where I can be messier. Day 1 photo on the left: fine tencel scarf warps in varying blues, greens and purple. Day 2 on the right. More fine tencel scarf warps and 2 skeins of seacell/silk for knitting into scarves: reds, fuchsia, burgundy, greys, black

This spring/summer has been the perfect opportunity during these quieter times to work on my rug loom. A few of the rugs off the loom and headed to Tottie's Crafts in Shelburne, NS

It's a dyeing week !!! Merino wool that I picked up years ago in New Zealand to dye and knit socks. How silly! The merino will now be woven scarves. I'll just buy my socks.

The placemats and runners I wove this past winter were all done in what is referred to as a double-binding technique. In this case, it is has a 2 block reversible look, Colour combos are endless. I like the technique because the placemats are a bit heavier, since they are 2 layers thick. These are for sale at Totties' Crafts, In Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Love the way they display them with the pottery they they sell.

Newest towels off the loom. Eight shaft plain weave and basketweave checked pattern, that was fun to play with, making striped towels and changing the colours around to weave something original

The newest sampling of kitchen towels off the loom---green stripes in the warp and then I varied weft colours, block sizes, accent stripes--choices were endless1

Trying to incorporate all the colours of the Day Lilies blooming in the garden into this kitchen towel Still working on the Monk's Belt threading.

Woodland Weavery 23.03.2020

Another Monk's Belt design on the tea towel warp. For this one, I only used one colour for each band,

New tea towel warp on the loom. Working on a Monk's Belt threading, which is an extremely old type of patterning, possibly pre-Christian era. As can be seen, the design has 2 blocks, which are alternately woven, so you can weave an overall design, or make a series of bands.

Here's a close-up of the weave structure. You can see the warp and weft floats, ( horizontally and vertically) so the textured yarn can be featured.
