As of Sunday environment Canada posted that we have seen less than 50 hours of sunlight. All human beings need light, sunshine and Vitamin D to survive. Several studies have shown a link between Vitamin D deficiency and chronic, 'unexplained' pain. So make sure you are getting the required amount during these long winter days. Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction is a common injury that results in a variety of symptoms such as pain, tenderness, stiffness and clicking of the TMJ. It can also contribute to headache, neck stiffness and ringing in the ear. TMJ can be caused by: - MVA or other trauma to the face, head and neck - Poor posture/clenching and grinding of the teeth... - Stree and inability to relax or sleep - Arthritis in the joint Physiotherapy is a valuable option in the treatment of TMJ dysfunction.
