PLEASE talk to your family members, your neighbours, your friends....do not buy gift cards because someone has called you, emailed or texted and asked you to. No fees, fines or "bail" can be paid with gift cards. THESE ARE SCAMS. They are not going to take the money out of your bank account (unless they have given them access to it as well), there is no warrant for your arrest and you do not owe money for income tax or anything else because they have contacted you. A store... in our community has had at least 3 people come in trying to buy either hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of GOOGLE PLAY cards since yesterday. One was stopped only because their credit card would not allow it, but talk as they might, the employees were not able to convince the other 2 buyers that this was a scam. These callers prey on the elderly, the confused and the desperate. If you have been scammed it is not because you are "stupid" or uneducated....they know what to say and how to say it. They are VERY convincing. They prey on people and they are good at it because they have made it their "job" to do so. They will threaten you. They will hold you "hostage" on your phone until you give them the pin numbers off of the backs of the cards. They will say that they are going to empty your bank account if you do not do this IMMEDIATELY. Hang up the phone. If you have given the caller any personal or banking information immediately call your bank and ensure that they know so that they can stop any potential transactions. You work too hard for your money. If you need to talk to a police officer you can contact our office at 506-325-4601. Of course, anything you discuss is CONFIDENTIAL. Please take care of one another.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town......TOMORROW!!! Tomorrow at 5:30pm Santa will be touring Woodstock and apparently will be back again next Thursday! Watch their Facebook page below for details! We also have some more great news to report if you haven't heard! ... Santa vs. Covid-19 In a statement emailed to CTVNews.ca, Santa's Office said Mr. Claus has confirmed that this year's Christmas will be no diffrerent from years past! Santa is definitely concerned about the problems caused by the pandemic. He knows that there are alot of extra rules due to coronavirus that are affecting spending time with our loved ones...one of the most wonderful, heart-warming aspects of Christmas. "The office said Santa's preparations for Christmas 2020 have gone "extremely well" and that he will not have to quarantine upon entering each country. "Just like the years before this one, Santa Claus will not have a diplomatic passport, travel visa or doctor's certificate, not even a reindeer parking permit. He simply doesn’t need any of these, and he will therefore not need to stay in quarantine," the Santa Claus Office said. Dr. Anthony Fauci of NIAID believes that Santa more than likely has a natural immunity to the virus. Santa has delivered presents to the children of the world during other pandemics so this year should not be any different. While the way he does his job will be different this year, Santa's Office said he will still get it done. "As the world's guardian of goodness and kindness, it is only natural for Santa Claus to respect and follow all public health recommendations, social distancing rules, and the proper use of reindeer back scratchers," the Santa's Office said. We have received a complaint from a person that received a call from "Service Canada" that accused him of owing a substantial amount of money (to whom we are unaware at this time). They then asked him who the local police were in his area to which he advised Woodstock Police Force and our phone number. This person then received a call from an individual that identified themselves as "Cst. Peter Brown of Woodstock Police Force" telling him that he needed to make the arrangeme...nts to pay his debt. PLEASE DO NOT fall for this fraud. The police do not assist any kind of collection agencies in collecting debt. Service Canada would not call you and ask for your SIN number or your banking information. Should someone advise you that you owe a debt, whether you do or not, do not provide them with your banking information or your SIN number over the phone. Contact the agency to whom you owe money to determine if the call is legitimate. Again, do not give personal information over the phone regarding your finances. When in doubt, call us. 506-325-4601

In our ongoing effort to maintain public trust with all citizens and visitors to our community, the Woodstock Police Force now employs the use of officer body worn cameras. The use of these cameras is intended to protect both citizens and officers in support of our public safety mandate through accountability of our actions and response. Accountability and transparency are key elements to growing the partnership and trust we currently enjoy in our community and wish to thank all citizens for their support with this important procedural introduction.
