Its somebody's birthday! check out our stories to learn who!
In case you missed our stories last week, we LOVE doing custom wood features. Like these yellow pine shelves that came from the boneyard in an old lumber yard. This wood was milled over 20 years ago and has been sitting undercover until we found it. We trimmed it down, added invisible mounting hardware and added a custom stain. Swipe left to see the original slab of wood! Do you love salvaged wood features? ... . . . . . #salvagedwood #floatingshelf #yellowpine #modernrustic #modernfarmhouse #customwoodwork #greenbuilding #woodandwaterdevelopments #woodwaterdev See more
Flash back to an Organic Landscape we did a few years ago. The clients are always outdoors and wanted a landscape that reflects their love of nature. We created outdoor seating and privacy while maintaining the character of the aincent rootceller. What do you think, would enjoy a glass of pinot on this patio? .... . . . . . #modenrustic #sustainability #designbuild #contractorsofig #buildersofig #woodwaterdev #woodandwaterdevelopments #organiclandscapes #organiclandscaping #landscapedesign #naturallandscape #okanaganlandscape See more
Has life ever thrown you a curveball? When faced with a problem, use it as an opportunity to get creative and come up with a unique solution. Our team has utilized, implemented and taught Permaculture Principles and projects for over a decade. We practice these principles at home and work to create designs of homes and landscapes that are functional, low energy, ecologically balanced and beautiful. Want to more? Feel free to reach out.
At the edge you can clearly see more opportunity. Edges are areas of energy exchange. In nature these areas are where two ecosystems meet (eg. a stream & a field). There is always more opportunity for life in these areas. The idea of edge is also relevant in the built environment. ... By playing with shapes and layout we are able to manipulate how much surface area is exposed, or not. This can increase solar aspect, microclimate opportunities and plant production. For us, this is where the landscape interacts with the home to increase its energy efficiency. Through shade trees and wind breaks we use plants to create edge and increase the aesthetic value of the home. Do you live on the edge? How so...
