Woodworking Barbee 27.02.2021

Where did the name 'Woodworking Barbee' come from? I grew up on a farm in Manitoba surrounded by family. If you know anyone that lives or has lived on a farm, they will tell you that there are dozens of tasks to making a farm run properly, and of course, as children and teenagers, we were there to help as well. I am the second oldest out of me and my three brothers and as one of the oldest, I helped in all areas. Inside the house I was helping clean and cooking and outside wi...th fixing, feeding, and driving. I have had the nickname 'doll face' since I was a little girl and as time went on I became a teenager and started to get into makeup and straightening my hair which my family felt was unnecessary. They started to nickname me Barbie. As you know, Barbie has a very diverse lifestyle and a variety of hobbies. Then came the nicknames 'Horseback Barbie', 'Branding Barbie', 'Bailing Barbie', 'Banjo Barbie', 'Vaccinating Barbie' and on goes the list. As I grew into an adult, I left the farm and continued to learn new skills along the way. As I sat down to brainstorm names for this new venture I could not find a more fitting name for my business than 'Woodworking Barbee". I may not have a size zero waistline or bleach blonde hair and blue eyes but a trait I do share with 'Barbie' is the ability to try new things and not let one path define who she thinks she can be! #meetthemaker #woodworkingbarbee #woodwork #February #riseup #entrepreneur #smallbusiness #stettler #centralalberta

If you see me from day to day, this is what I look like most of the time. Most days I trade my red lipstick, winged eyeliner, luscious eyelashes, perfectly done hair and flowery perfume for something a little different.... Instead, I end up with no make-up, headphones on music blasting, messy bun, and covered head to toe in a new "glitter" I call.. sawdust. And just the other day when I got home from the woodshop, my husband gave me hug and said "Mmm you smell good! You sme...ll like wood!" So I guess I have traded some luxuries, but man I love what I do! #lessglam #woodworkingbarbee #meetthemaker #stettler #centralalberta #handmade
