Word Portraits and Judith Banville are gratified by the continued response to the gathering of survivors that we organized and sponsored on the 30th anniversary of the Barrie Tornado. So many have told us it helped them heal from the trauma of Ontario's worst tornado and to process what happened to the larger community. That healing, and learning about tornados in our area, continued on this year's anniversary with a screening of the documentary. "This was the first time I fe...lt like a survivor rather than someone who was still suffering" says Crystal Poechman-Colville, crediting the documentary for helping her to process what she experienced as a child, and healing her to the point that she felt she could share her brother's story now with our audience and the media. Word Portraits was proud to be the lead sponsor and creator of the Barrie Tornado 30th anniversary event which helped so many find some healing.
