I am writing and posting this on Thanksgiving Day 2020. A day my family traditionally gets together. Not this year though. I wonder if the same will hold true for Christmas? If you are single and live alone as I do, it can be lonely to be on your own on celebratory days you have traditionally spent with friends and family. If you know someone who will be alone at Christmas, send them a text, an email or better yet give them a phone call. I can guarantee you will make their day much brighter.

October was Mental Health Awareness month but I think we should be aware and conscious of mental health issues every month. And, so much more so during COIVD-19 when those who suffer with their mental health are having an even more difficult time than usual. If you know someone who is struggling take the time to reach out. An open heart and listening ear as well as a word of encouragement or two can make a world of difference for the person who is suffering.

I have noticed a few fb posts in the last year regarding cursive writing. People are asking if we should still teach it. I, for one, say "no." We are in the digital age where print is king compared to cursive. Once upon a time we needed to learn cursive in order to sign cheques, legal documents and the like. As payment methods such as e-transfers, PayPal etcetera become more popular, cheques are becoming obsolete. Likewise as more and more legal documents are being sent elect...ronically, a printed signature is totally acceptable. But, if you really are stuck on the need to use cursive there's an app for that. Or, choose one of the handwriting fonts offered by Google. The one found at the following link is one example. http://ow.ly/DvNk50BQljL Where do you sit on this debate?

Royal Canadian Legion is offering non-medical masks as well as the traditional poppies this year. Go to www.thepoppystore.ca to purchase a mask and support the Canadian Legion's work. From CTV News: "The lead-up to Remembrance Day will look a little different this year as the Royal Canadian Legion adapts its poppy campaign to the pandemic.... Restrictions due to COVID-19 mean most legion branches won't set up donation tables or have volunteers at store entrances - both familiar sights in the weeks ahead of Nov. 11. Instead, the campaign will feature electronic donation boxes that accept tap payments, along with unmanned traditional donation boxes. The legion will also be selling non-medical masks online and through certain branches to support its work." https://twitter.com/RoyalCdnL//1281633644344479749/photo/1
