We were very fortunate to have received funding from Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba through RWIP for our project "Effective Use of the Hierarchy of Controls for Machine Safeguarding". We want to help reduce machine incidents by giving organizations the tools to manage their risk. One of our first steps is to develop training tools. Check them out here: https://lnkd.in/eFpZD84

Mike convincing the crowd @SAFEWorkMb #safeworkclc that starting at the top of the hierarchy of controls is the key to success. It may be harder to develop and implement "eliminate" or "engineered control" solutions, but in the end it will be more effective and easier to sustain.
We are just getting started here at the Safe Work Manitoba Committee Leadership Conference. Come join us for "Hazard Identification & Risk Control: Machine Guarding Basics for Committee Members" with Made Safe. It's a full room but there's a few seats left!

This sign may be humorous and perhaps there's a bit of truth there, but the reality is workers often get into dangerous situations because the employer has not given them the tools to succeed. They are trying to be good employees, working hard and preventing errors from occurring. Have we put controls in place to protect workers when unexpected events arise? Have we done a full risk assessment to consider all possible scenarios such as jams, cleaning and maintenance tasks? If we do our jobs first to fully safeguard machines and properly train workers, then we can successfully deal with the situations where workers needlessly put themselves in harms way. www.wesguard.ca/freetrial

Always lockout PRIOR to removing a guard. Or, if you find that you need frequent access an interlocked guard may be a better option depending on the task. Always do a risk assessment first! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ybh4FHwLqLw
We are proud to support this wonderful campaign from Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) and sponsored by Made Safe. CSSE aims to give back to the local community where the annual PDC is being held. This year it is Winnipeg! In Manitoba, 21.9% of children live in low-income households. Here's the link to join us in supporting this great cause! https://www.csse.org//IGAVEBACKpack;jsessionid=4161D88C58F
Got this travel backpack for the WESguard road travels. Makes it easier to keep arms folded and sigh at people going slow getting off the plane.
MADtv funny workplace safety video. Some serious machinery hazards here! But what we wouldn't do for a pizza party! Lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rK8UIGkzsf8&has_verified=1
Stunning that there is no guarding.
