Working Women Community Centre 17.11.2020

#inspired WWCC Executive Director Marcie Ponte accepted a ceremonial blanket awarded during the Mothers Matter Centre's 20th e-Anniversary in October, celebrating WWCC's commitment to mothers, early learning and coordination of the HIPPY program in Toronto. Blankets are a way for a family to stand up their loved one, to protect them, honour them and remind them that they are loved. Traditionally the blankets were woven by the family, as a means of binding the good thoughts (similar to a prayer) to wrap the person being honored. To be called forward, stood up and blanketed is one of the highest honours.

I have been tutoring Joselyn since she was in Grade 7/8 and she will be going into her last year of high school this year! This whole journey has transformed my life, and I am SO appreciative of both of you and the entire team at On Your Mark for all that you SELFLESSLY do. I am getting emotional writing this, but words cannot describe how wonderful this experience has been, and how much joy the kids that I have tutored have brought to my life. I have filled out the form say...ing that I can volunteer Thursdays and Saturdays, but since 2020/2021 tutoring will entirely be online, please keep me in mind as a backup for any of the other days, in case someone doesn't show up last minute. I will try my hardest to be there as a backup! Cheers, Anjana Rav OYM Volunteer since 2015
