A World in Exile: Ryerson's Counter Culture Campus Group 22.12.2020

We’re so honored to partner with Food is Free MKE for the month of January! Located at 56th & Townsend in Emma & Sam’s garage, this lil food pantry that cou...ld started with Emma giving her excess garden vegetables away to her neighbors. After learning how much food insecurity there is in her neighborhood and throughout the city of Milwaukee the project grew, as did the space. Emma and Sam spent their own money the first few months (including their stimulus checks!) to stock the pantry with food and toiletries, and now they can luckily rely on kind hearted neighbors to keep the shelves stocked with donations most days. It’s been less than a year, and #foodisfree is now a permanent structure with 2 fridges, a community microwave, and cabinets donated by Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin! Without some of the barriers of traditional food pantries, all are welcome at Food is Free MKE to take what you need, and give what you can 24/7/365. We’re calling on you to help support this amazing grassroots effort, and we’re giving you FREE CUPCAKES as motivation! Like/follow their page, drop off your donations at our bakery anytime this month, and we’ll give you free cupcakes (up to 6 per family please), or you can ask us to donate your cupcakes to Food is Free. Here is a list of items the pantry needs most: Baking supplies (flour, sugar, oil, cornbread mix, etc.) Ramen Noodles Microwave meals Nuts and trail mix Dressings, sauces, and condiments Kids snacks (pretzels, goldfish, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc.) Baby diapers and feminine products Toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, sanitizer/wipes Gloves and socks Gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations, Target, Walmart Fresh fruit and vegetables that don’t require refrigeration and will last a few days (we plan to bring over donations 1-2x per week) We also encourage you to gather donations and bring your family to Food is Free to organize and stock the shelves yourself, it’s such a worthwhile, immediate, and relatively Covid safe way to teach your children to give back to the community! Let’s pull together and help our neighbors because #foodisforeveryone

2020 was a year of pandemic but also resistance. Here are some of the best protest photos of 2020. #yearinreview (Photos via Reuters, Getty and AP)

Hey Toronto! Want lawn signs showing support for Indigenous Land Defenders on it? Here's how you can get one and support 1492 Land Back Lane. Step 1: Donate to... 1492 Land Back Lane camp or legal fund (donations can be e-transferred to [email protected]). We suggest $50-$80 for 5 signs (minimum order). Step 2: Show us proof of your donation by emailing us at [email protected] Step 3: We'll drop off 5 signs to you mid-December. *Toronto only* Five signs is our minimum order right now to help with the labour of distribution. Buy bulk with your friends or gift them to pals and neighbours! It's a pandemic and so arranging pick-ups at an event isn't really possible. Thank you!!
