What is a PARADIGM? (par-a-dime) A PARADIGM is a framework or structure (think of the framing of a house being built). It's a macro level framework that will contain the fundamentals of what the paradigm is. It has impact at a community, societal, or global level and is provable. EXAMPLE OF A PARADIGM: Think of the Age of Enlightenment or Renaissance and how the mind and creativity became celebrated. Music, art, philosophy, science, concert halls, new instruments, trave...l and more poured forth and filled in that framework of the paradigm. A PARADIGM SHIFT happens when a paradigm is filled to the point of RADICAL CHANGE. The paradigm is either suffering because of the change or needing to burst into something new. EXAMPLES OF A PARADIGM SHIFT: Some shifts, like the discovery of nuclear power or the industrial revolution, happen rapidly and find many manifestations. The suffering paradigm, we're living in one, is slower, tortuous and avoided or denied. The 21st C is trying to deal with, of all things, the primitive virus, an invisible, wily foe. What did we deny in the process? Global warming, for heaven's sake. And now we're denying Science itself. Arrogance abounds. And people forget that arrogance is the face of fear. So what needs to happen in this model of looking at the macro level of the planet? TBC
