A Yarn of Bone & Paper 12.12.2020

YOUR biggest project? I have 3 kids - this story is #4: elusive, obstinate, wild.

A Yarn of Bone & Paper 08.11.2020

"Storytellers ought not to be too tame. They ought to be wild creatures who function adequately in society. They are best in disguise. If they lose all their wildness, they cannot give us the truest joys." - Ben Okri... Today I did a something not tame - the morning didn't start out that way - it began by disguising myself as a middle aged pudge with a plain old turkey bacon sandwich & cup of tea. Then, soon after that, today I did many things a LOT not tame and the day got lost & dangerous and ended up tangled in tree roots & real danger & there were wet boots involved. Yes, there is a Covid storm raging, true, we need to stay home & promise I HAVE stayed home until today & been tame but some days you wake up thinking you're going to treat yourself to a turkey bacon sandwich and maybe even cut off the crusts & then you find yourself on a dirt road managing an altercation with a thug on a four wheeler. At one point, the part when a loaded gun is a possibility, at that point a corner of your mind wonders of the turkey bacon sandwich would have tasted better with mayo but then you're with a wild friend named Jessie & that sandwich is miles away & your fear goes out the window because it's life & death & what do we say to the Lord of Death? Not today, right? Half way through the day you realize wiping down your baseboards might have been safer option, but not better. Now, back home and dry footed - I am here, with you, self isolating again, not suggesting breaking isolation rules is a good idea. But today, oh yes, today was a dangerous story with a wild thing - me.
