Factors such as getting enough sleep, making sure you exercise and keeping stress to a minimum are likely more important than posture for relieving and preventing the pain in your neck.

In the Northern Hemisphere we are now in the Metal Element of Autumn. The Metal Element governs the Lungs and Large Intestine. Related to these energy systems... are all the organs and tissues listed in the image, including the immune system. There are more sinus and chest infections during this season than any other time of year. We can also experience more grief and sadness during the fall. Depression is also more common at this time. There are qigong movements we can do to help heal, strengthen, and balance these systems and emotions. Cupping the chest, shoulders and up and down the arms is beneficial. So is gentle dolphining of the neck. Other ways to support ourselves includes finding contentment with our lives or in this moment, eating warm local seasonal foods such as root vegetables and pears, slowing down our lives, releasing what no longer serves (declutter and refine) and focusing on the quieter activities that light you up.
