What can we say? This has been a difficult year and certainly unprecedented times but we are simply overwhelmed by your continued support and generosity; not only towards our new business but towards helping us raise over $700 for Socks 4 Souls! Together we were able to donate 1460 pairs or socks for the homeless, even more of a necessity this Winter. . From our family to yours, wishing you much love & tranquility. We are here for you and we thank you.

It seems fitting that on the winter solstice, and with the announcements of the province wide lock-down, our amaryllis opened. And we would like to tell you all that we too are able to stay open during this time. We're very grateful to be able to be here to support those of you that have been supporting us! As well as all of those who work with us Happy Solstice!

WSB Massage & Wellness 15.12.2020

We have never accepted tips, preferring that you use that money on your own self-care but with this pandemic year, there will be even more folks experiencing homelessness. If you feel like tipping or just donating, kindly consider helping this cause. You can do so directly via their website (link in our bio) but if you decide to contribute in our clinic, we'll match up to $500 in donations! We'll collect until Dec 22. Thanks for considering

Fret not! The most recent lock-down will not affect any of your upcoming appointments. Luckily, we are permitted to stay open so please come in and know that your safety is still of the utmost importance to all of us here. Naturopathy will move to an online/virtual INITIAL appointment but follow-ups will still be in person. Psychotherapy will continue online or by phone.... All other modalities remain unaffected but if you have any questions about our COVID-19 protocols, please don't hesitate to contact us for more details.

With our world being as tumultuous as it is, we want to remind you to be gentle with yourself. If you need support processing, there are many avenues for help. Please reach out! Psychotherapists are still able to offer sessions via phone or Zoom. We'd like to introduce to a pretty wonderful one. This is Leah Sherry M.Ed, RP (qualifying). ... ... ...... My work is about connection. I do what I can to create a space where we can sit - without judgement or hurry - and organize our thoughts, experiences and feelings. Therapy can soften our gaze and invite curiosity no matter what you bring and no matter where you are at. In our work together, you will experience compassion, right as you are. If this sounds like a fit and you want to visit my office or talk on the phone - I am here. Currently I am a qualifying member of The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and have completed my training with The Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy (TIRP). The human soul doesn’t want to be advised or fixed or saved. It simply wants to be witnessedto be seen, heard and companioned exactly as it is. Parker J. Palmer ... ... ... Just in time for the holiday rush, we finally have an RMT for Tuesdays! And not just anyone. Please welcome Sarah Bilous. She was one of the first folks we ever spoke with when the clinic didn't even have walls yet. There was an immediate connection and we're so excited that timing has finally worked out. . . . My journey with bodywork began in a traditional Lahu Village in Northern Thailand where I began to learn that art of Thai Massage. Tucked up in the mountains was whe...re I re-connected with the power of human touch. Upon returning home I studied Massage Therapy at Sutherland-Chan. I now blend and incorporate all teachings of Massage into treatments. My approach to Massage is rooted in the existence of a safe, caring and completely non-judgmental space where the body, mind and spirit are at ease and we are able to tap into the body’s innate ability to heal itself. The body has ways of communicating and it is up to us to find a way to tune in and listen. Movement of all forms has always been woven into my life and I truly believe that bodies are happiest and healthiest when they are able to move freely and often. As such, I aim to help re-kindle your connection with your body and its joyous movements as well as help fulfill any goals you may have. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you along your journey of health and well-being. . . . Online booking is available for Tues from 2-7pm. See link in bio

It's been a search, but we have finally found a most wonderful naturopath to be part of our community. If you can believe it, she first met Devin in kindergarten! Please welcome Kristen Mark, ND. ... ... ... As a Naturopathic Doctor I offer a holistic medical approach that is both evidence-informed and patient-centred. My intention is to create profound changes in the lives of my patients through thoughtful, and strategic naturopathic care.... I believe that holistic healing begins by honouring the body’s innate wisdom. This idea has been integral to my own healing journey, and has led me to shine a light on the ways we train ourselves to ignore what our bodies and hearts tell us. It has allowed me to step more fully into my whole self, and guides my approach to care. Whether you’re facing a new diagnosis or a chronic health issue, I will help you navigate your health with genuine care that is straight-forward and supportive. I have a particular focus on women’s health (such as PMS, menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, fertility), and stress-related ill-health (fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, digestive issues). I also offer acupuncture for facial rejuvenation. I believe that everyone should have access to support in achieving their health goals. I aim to improve access to naturopathic medicine by committing to an anti-oppressive framework and offering a safe, non-judgmental, culturally sensitive space to express and explore your health concerns. To address financial barriers, I offer sliding scale rates and take economics into consideration when developing treatment plans. When I’m not in the clinic, you can find me running around High Park with (or after) my toddler, experimenting with new recipes (medicinal and nutritional), or in my living room singing and dancing to whatever music suits my mood. ... ... ... You can see why we're stoked!! You can check out her website or book with Kristen on Tuesdays from 10-8 via the link in our bio.

We can't stress enough the importance of mental health and its interconnectedness with body health. The body and mind (and heart and spirit) are one and need to be supported together. We are so happy to introduce you to Sarah Flanagan, therapist-in-training (Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy). Get to know her by reading on! . . .... My approach is client-led, starting where you need to and only going as deeply as you want to go. I work to truly understand you and your experience, as well as the intersecting social contexts, such as race, gender, and sexuality (to name a few), of your life. I provide a non- judgmental, supportive, and at times playful atmosphere in which you can safely explore and be yourself. By offering a space to give voice to your thoughts and feelings, we will make connections between patterns past and present, allowing you to access and build inner resources and authenticity. I strive to work in an anti-oppressive, feminist, sex-positive, and LGBTQ2S- positive framework. Before starting on my path studying therapy, I studied Theatre at the University of Toronto and have worked for many years in non-profits in the arts, international development and leadership development. I’ve also worked in the government and other bureaucratic institutions. In my spare time, I read tarot cards, a practice that has helped me hone my intuition and get to know myself better. I am a student therapist at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy, a graduate psychotherapy training program accredited by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). All my work with clients is done under supervision by experienced psychotherapists. I am a member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists and am governed by their ethical standards as well as the ethical standards of the CRPO. . . . Although our psychotherapists are currently not seeing patients in person, they are available via phone calls and Zoom. You can book with Sarah for Thursdays 12-4 or Sundays 11-4 via her website or at the link in our bio

Meet our chiropractor Dr. Kelly Schoonderwoerd! We are huge advocates for her different approach to treatment which includes much soft tissue work. To get the full scoop on what she offers, please read on... . . . I’m a graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. After graduating from CMCC, I obtained my Personal Trainer’s license and completed extensive additional training in sports chiropractic. I’ve worked as a trainer for rowing and soccer tea...ms and have also been part of the medical team for events such as karate, hockey, soccer, triathlons and both the Ontario Summer Games and the Canada Summer Games. My treatment methods help you feel more comfortable in your body, ranging from extensive soft tissue therapy and adjustments/manipulations of bony joints to the use of K-taping, Graston Technique, active rehab and therapeutic ultrasound. I’m also one of a only a few chiropractors who provides tailbone/coccygeal treatment. Many people with longstanding discomfort from a chronic tailbone injury have found dramatic relief from gentle internal work to the coccyx and surrounding ligaments. I will never provide a 5-minute treatment nor will I prescribe a high-volume treatment plan. All treatment recommendations are made in consultation with you and are based upon your individual response to treatment and your goals. Biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, jogging, in-line skating, playing soccer, rowing, working out at CrossFit & eating well are a few of the thing I do to keep healthy and active when I’m not at work! . . . You can book online via the link in our bio. Kelly is available every second Saturday from 12-3.

Change is necessary but it certainly isn't always easy, is it? During these precarious times, we just want to remind you that self-care is important. Take a moment to check in with how you are feeling daily. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Cry if you need to. Connect with nature. Remember to slow down your breath. Please know that you're not alone. #inhale #exhale #repeat #love #community #virtualhugs

If you've ever been curious about how food can affect and improve your health, Jennifer Taverner is the person for you! She's not only knowledgeable but a great support system. Please read on for all the deets :) . . . Hi there! I'm a Certified Holistic Nutritionist by day and professional opera singer by night. Singing for a living means my livelihood depends greatly on the state of my health and was one of the reasons I became so interested in nutrition. I started to reali...ze how food can affect my overall health and not just my dress size. By making small changes to my diet, I started to notice some amazing stuff; my seasonal allergies were practically non-existent (I used to keep Kleenex and Claritin in business), I wasn't getting sick nearly as often, my skin was clearer, my VOICE was clearer, I had more energy and I even dropped some weight. Bonus! This totally fascinated me and I eventually decided to head back to school to study nutrition and graduated with a diploma in Advanced Holistic Nutrition at Nutraphoria School of Holistic Nutrition. I know now that some of the foods I used to eat were causing inflammation and that the inflammation was basically the root of all my issues. Currently, I work with a lot of fellow singers on optimizing their nutrition so their bodies and voices are in tip-top shape but don’t let this prevent you from contacting me. Everyone is welcome! If you’re ready to take action, I’m here to help you make a plan to achieve your goals. . . . To book for Thursdays between 10-7, check out her website or the link in our bio

This snake plant was one of the first things we brought to our office. Shortly afterwards, we noticed a flower stalk! Apparently you can own a sansevieria for years without ever seeing this happen. And what produces this marvel? STRESS to the plant! We're choosing to see this as encouragement that beauty and growth are occurring in spite of and because of what life is throwing down these days. Thought we'd share the love. (Don't the flowers look like fireworks? ) . . . #rmtlife #wsbmassage_wellness #dundaswest #nature #beauty #healing #magical #gratitude @ WSB Massage & Wellness

Oh but wait...not just one but 2 physios/pelvic floor therapists!! Meet Kanchan Masand who has also received her diploma in Osteopathy! We are so grateful to have her here as well. . . . I’m an orthopedic and pelvic health physiotherapist who is deeply committed to helping my patients get relief from long-standing pain, move with greater ease, and reengage in activities that they once loved to partake in.... My passion for studying the workings of the human body (and mind) led me to earn a Diploma in Osteopathic Manual Practice from the Canadian College of Osteopathy. I have considerable experience in the management of chronic neck and low back pain, and pelvic disorders such as incontinence, pain, prolapse, and the pregnant and postpartum pelvis. My interest in concussion rehabilitation arose after sustaining a serious concussion injury in 2017. By combining the knowledge gained from my personal rehabilitation journey with the latest evidence-based research, I strive to offer the best post-concussion care to individuals struggling with persistent concussion symptoms. The deepest lessons I have learned are from my patients. They know their bodies better than anyone, and by asking the right questions and listening carefully, the answers to most of their persistent pain issues can be determined. When not in the clinic, I can be found practicing my karate chops on my younger brother, devouring home-cooked meals, and attempting to rein in the mind through meditation. . . . Kanchan is here on Thursdays from 9-3:30. Check out her website or book online at the links in our bio.

When we started to contemplate the idea of opening a multidisciplinary clinic last Fall, one of the first disciplines we wanted to have available was pelvic floor therapy, a modality not often discussed enough as it can help not only with incontinence to recovery from childbirth, but also persistent low back pain. We are so thrilled to introduce you to Trang Bùi! She is a gifted physiotherapist who also specializes in pelvic rehabilitation. . . .... I am a Registered Physiotherapist who is passionate about helping people achieve their optimal health through optimizing movements. With my background as a certified Pilates and Yoga teacher, I use functional movements to help clients regain body awareness and restore peak body alignment. My diverse skillset, including manual therapy and contemporary medical acupuncture, gives me the versatility to tailor treatments to the needs of my clients. I believe that every patient with the same condition has different underlying dysfunction that requires a unique treatment plan. My personal experience with pelvic rehabilitation inspired me to specialize in this field and pursue post-graduate training in both Canada and the United States. I understand the challenges of getting in touch with one’s pelvic floor and the inner core system, and how difficult it is to find the right advice and guidance. Using evidence-based knowledge and best practice techniques, I can effectively treat a variety of pelvic floor disorders such as urinary/bowel incontinence, persistent low back/hip pain, pelvic pain (dyspareunia, vulvodynia, vaginismus), post-partum pain and incontinence, diastasis recti, and prolapse. My training in pre- and post-natal support allows me to aid in labour preparation and pelvic floor protective techniques, which can help improve post-natal outcomes. I look forward to assisting you with reconnecting and regaining your physical strength from the inside out! . . . Trang is available on M&W from 10-6 and F from 10-5. Why hello there and a fabulous Friday to y'all! Before you go and enjoy the weekend, we'd love you to take a minute to welcome the immensely multi-talented Ashton Shearer, the final member of our TCM/Acupuncturist family. . . . I’m a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine in Tkaranto/Toronto. Being a visual artist, musician, immersing myself in nature and working with plants, allowed me to positively work through and overcome adversity.... This led me to work as Program Coordinator of CUE, an arts organization dedicated to supporting marginalized communities. I fell in love with Chinese medicine when I started looking for a way to support people on a holistic level, especially those dealing with physical and mental health issues and systemic barriers. During this search, I attended community acupuncture sessions and felt it was the first time I was truly seen and heard by a practitioner. I noticed rapid improvement with both acute and chronic concerns. As well, I was developing a more positive outlook on life; in my relationships with others, the environment and myself. Realizing this would be an avenue to providing affordable, quality healthcare for all people to relieve pain, stress, injuries, mental- emotional issues and more, I jumped in all the way and I haven’t looked back since. I offer affordable sliding-scale acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, dietary, and herbal therapies in both private and (pending changes to COVID-19 restrictions) community acupuncture settings. I run a NADA AcuDetox acupuncture circle at the Christie Ossington Neighbourhood (drop-in) Centre and am a member of The People’s Healing Fund. I look forward to working with you to work on your healing path. . . . To learn more about Ashton or book online for Thursdays between 9-8 pm, go to the link in our bio You can also connect with her at [email protected]

It's the start of a new week and we have someone new to introduce to you! Meet Mike Park; a wonderful addition to our TCM/Acupuncture family. He has spent much time studying abroad and has quite a unique approach: . . . I’ve been in the health and wellness industry for the past 15 years in both a clinical and private setting.... I first worked as a Holistic Nutritionist, helping those with digestive issues and diabetes, which led me to Personal Training and corrective exercise (getting certified from the CHEK Institute), helping those with weight loss management issues. In the past 7 years, I completed my studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine becoming a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac), and Manual Osteopath (DOMP) I’ve apprenticed under renowned acupuncturist Takamasa Tsurusaki (Toronto), Mitsunori Seino (Tokyo), and Shi Hyung Lee (Seoul). I am currently furthering my education by learning Zhu Scalp Acupuncture from renowned Acupuncturist Dr. Ming Qing Zhu (California). I practice a style of Japanese acupuncture that’s known for it’s precise diagnosis and gentle needling, and combine it with the soft tissue principles from manual osteopathy. I use acupuncture, soft tissue therapy, nutrition, lifestyle coaching and corrective exercise to help those in chronic pain and those suffering from Adrenal fatigue or chronic fatigue syndrome. . . . If you'd like to learn more, feel free to contact us or book an appointment with Mike on Mondays from 10-6 or Saturdays from 10-4. Link in bio
