Col. Chris Hadfield is best known as "the first Canadian to walk in space." He's also today's featured #UWaterlooWriter! Col. Hadfield studied as an NSERC UWaterloo Engineering postgrad in1982, looking at aircraft fuel pump design. He then returned to #UWaterloo in 2013 as a professor of aviation. During his time as the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station, Col. We're kicking off our new #UWaterlooWriters series with Rupi Kaur (BA '15 English). Kaur received her BA in English from UWaterloo in 2015, just one year after self-publishing her debut book Milk and Honey. She quickly gained international attention as an important voice in feminist literature and after selling 17,000 copies of the self-published edition was signed on for a second printing of Milk and Honey by Andrews McMeel Publishing. Kaur followed the success of her first ...book of poetry with the release of The Sun and Her Flowers, in 2017. Kaur has topped multiple best-seller lists for poetry and Canadian literature, alongside literary icons like Margaret Atwood. She was named "writer of the decade" by The New Republic in 2019 Keep an eye out for Kaur's newest release, Home Body, hitting shelves in November.
