More photos from our successful Friday install at Seneca Central. Although today went well...big Friday installs are never a great idea...

We’re out in the field today installing a twin cistern system to replace the existing poor quality groundwater supply. A great job for the Grand Erie School Board in Haldimand County.

WT Infrastructure Solutions Inc. was retained by Niagara Regional Housing to carry out an investigation and evaluation of the existing balcony structures at a townhouse complex. This project was initiated to replace the existing deteriorated wood and steel framed balconies with a more durable system. The wood decking was severely deteriorated, but the steel framing was in good condition. Our Trevor Gonsalves suggested that the wood decking be replaced with concrete slabs. T...he load carrying capacity of the steel framing was checked to determine whether they could support the weight of new precast concrete slabs. Our design check showed that the existing steel framing and foundation could support new concrete slabs. We prepared repair specifications and drawings for the replacement of the deteriorated wood decking with precast concrete slabs and new glass and aluminium railings and assisted Niagara Regional Housing during the tender process. Our team used a practical approach to provide our client with a cost-effective repair strategy. In this case, the steel structure was in good condition so why replace it. Our approach is always site specific to provide real value. #practicalinnovation #concrete #customerservice #quality #buildingscience See more

Advice from your friendly neighbourhood water and wastewater engineer during the pandemic. 1. Use municipal water, it is safe, chlorinated and virus free. 2. Don't flush anything down the toilet isn't toilet paper or a byproduct of digestion (I'm trying to be less vulgar). With the potential for staffing shortages in municipal services due to quarantines and self-isolation, fouling sewage pumps with wet wipes or disinfection wipes is an easy thing to avoid. Put it in the tras...h. Follow your local municipal requirements for solid waste management, continue to recycle, but also ensure that anything that you are using for disinfection or kleenex is dumped in a bag in the garbage...not recycling. And most importantly be kind to your neighbour, wave at the truck driver working for all of us, be careful with contact with people at the grocery store, but be nice. We'll get through this...We're elbow bumping you right now... See more

The wonderful places we get to visit that most of the public will never see. When this tank is full of drinking water it has enough water to fill 100,000 bathtubs. #practicalinnovation #water #quality

Engineering design lessons come in all shapes and sizes. This is the lesson of CAN vs. SHOULD. Picking up the mail today, there was a package in our super mailbox that CAN fit in the box, but as you can see from our attempts to remove it, the question has to be asked SHOULD it fit in the box. Our answer is no, it shouldn't. In our designs, engineers and designers need to think hard about CAN vs. SHOULD. We've seen situations where saving a few square feet/metres of floor ...space saved a nominal amount of capital cost, but ask the operator and they've spent a significant amount of money and time due to the restriction of space. Ask a contractor if that pipe that fit in AutoCAD, fit in reality. Our approach of Practical Innovation is to ask the question of not only will it fit, but how will it be installed, how will it be maintained and how will it be replaced. Don't hesitate to reach out and ask us to help with your CAN vs. SHOULD problem or follow along and see if some of the things we share are interesting for you or your business. #practicalinnovation #design #quality #customerservice See more

A great day today out in the field in Norfolk County. Looking at pipes. Interesting to see the impact of storm damage on outlets due to high lake levels.

It isn't about being the fanciest, it is about getting the job done efficiently. No one cares how shiny their system to collect wastewater is...they just care that when they flush the toilet it goes away and that when they turn the tap on that water is there and it is safe to drink. Bang for buck. https://ideas.ted.com/the-genius-of-frugal-innovation/

As we move into Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, it's time for a Friday Netflix recommendation, still on the topic of Quality. A large chunk of WT Infrastructure Solutions Inc. business is water...potable water, wastewater, storm water, water reuse and water conservation. EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THIS SHOW. The obsession with bottled water is shocking. We don't think it shouldn't exist or that municipalities should ban companies buying their water and repackaging it. The fo...od industry does it all the time (beer, soda, laundry soap, bread). Seeing that the lowest income people use the highest percentage of bottled water when municipal water is 1/1000 the price...is sad. Why do we still flush our toilets with potable water? There are opportunities. We know in Canada we have the water, but just because we can doesn't mean we should. We want to be better. It is what our practical innovation is about. #practicalinnovation https://www.netflix.com/ca/title/80146284 See more

Customer service as the cornerstone of our business is as easy as "do unto others", but in reality it isn't the case...the most simple thing about customer service is that it isn't about you or even what you did, it is how your customer feels. https://www.thebalancesmb.com/providing-excellent-customer-

Excited to announce that we've completed our first six months of operation and have experienced positive growth in every month. The most satisfying part of reflection on our first six months is that we've completed projects and are seeing repeat business, we've successfully stuck to our business philosophy/plan and we're seeing additional traction with client satisfaction with each week. This business is a never ending growth and learning experience, but by trying to look at it through a different lens, we're seeing amazing opportunities to make both our and our client's lives easier. More to come, and no time to celebrate...follow along and see where we go and if you want to come along for the ride

Day 2 of Getting to Know WT Infrastructure Solutions - Practical Innovation - our motto in practice - Our President Jamie Witherspoon was the Project Manager, Design Lead and Primary Hydraulic Modeller on the County Road No. 6 Booster Station and Reservoir in Loyalist Township. This project was practically innovative as it repurposed an existing inline booster station to add approximately 4,000 cubic metres of ground level storage using the glass fused to steel Greatario Eng...ineered Storage Systems. The innovation and efficiency came from the fact that the new storage could feed two pressure zones with a single pumping system combined with a Peter Sucharda provided Cla-Val Pressure and Flow Control valve, thus avoiding additional storage and pumping systems within the communities of Odessa and Amherstview. The keys to success were working closely with the client The Corporation of Loyalist Township and looking at different ways of maximizing the efficiency of the available infrastructure. Plus the logo looks pretty nice from the road or the train... hashtag#infrastructuresolutions hashtag#water-supply See more
