We would like to call attention to the Uvic WUSC Local Committee's proposal for the City of Victoria's Participatory Budgeting process this year. What is the Participatory Budgeting Process? This is an initiative that aims to invest $50,000 to support community projects for immigrants and refugees. Residents of Victoria and the Capital region will have a say in how funds are allocated, and community members are encouraged to vote for projects that resonate with them. ... WUSC's local committee at Uvic is proposing "Being Together and Being Here: Newcomer Integration through Indigenous Partnership and Education." This two-component program will consist of online workshops and discussions, followed by place-based learning and relationship-building activities. The program seeks to promote understanding and inter-communal dialogue and consider resettlement in the context of these unceded lands. How much is Uvic WUSC requesting in funding? We are requesting $1,943 in funding from the participatory budgeting process. We expect 40-65 people to benefit from this program. Where can you vote for our proposal?
