The U-15 Shiretowners 2020 season came to an end this morning. Losing in the tie breaker game 11-8 against Team Hawley. It was a game of long ball that included 4 home runs. Harding launched a 2 run shot into 2nd deck in the 4th inning giving WV a 4-3 lead. The shires also battled back in the 6th to tie the game 8-8 on a 2 out rally. Oulton and Pirie both had a double, a single, and 2 RBIs. Herbert had to a 2 run double, with Morin, Mahar, and Black adding singles. Herbert got the start on the mound and was followed by Morin in relief.
Saturday night action saw the U-15 Shires win in spectacular fashion over Team Rice 8-2. Harding pitched a complete game yielding 2 runs on 5 hits. Oulton lead the charge again going 3/3. Graham had a 2 hit game game, Pirie Morin, and Black each added singles. This win secures Western Valley a spot in a tie breaker game tomorrow at 9am versus Team Hawley. The winner moves on to play Team Hay in the final.
U-15 Shiretowners beat Oromocto 18-8 in a 5 inning shortened game. Graham pitched 6 innings for the win and Pirie came in relief. On the offensive side Oulton went 3/3, Harding and Stephenson had 2 hits, Pirie and Morin each had doubles, and Herbert had a single.
The U9 Shiretowners finished off a great season with an exciting double header in Fredericton today. The Shires tied game 1 against Fredericton Royals Blue 5-5 after the Royals rallied back in the bottom of the 6th to even the score. In game 2 against Fredericton Royals Red, Western Valley was the home team. With the score knotted at 4-4 in the bottom of the 6th the Shires got 2 runners on with 2 out and Brody Brown ripped a single into right field to walk off the win. An awesome way to close out the season for the squad!
U-15 Shiretowners lose 3-0 to the Royals (Hay) tonight. Chiasson pitched a no hitter and helped his team improve to 2-0. Oulton pitched a solid game, going the distance and giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. WV is now 1-1, they face Oromocto at 12:30pm and Team Rice at 4pm tomorrow. Both games are must win and will be played at Henry Park.
The 15-U Shiretowners try to build off their game 1 win tonight as they travel to Fredericton to play Royals (Hay). Game time is 5:00 pm at Tingley field. Good luck team!
The U-15 Shiretowners opened up the playoffs with an exciting 5-4 win over team Hawley. Harding got the win going 3 2/3 innings on 50 pitches. Hebert got the hold and Morin delivered the save. Morin also delivered at the plate with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs. Graham, Oulton, and Herbert added singles. Next game is Friday night at Tingley field versus team Hay at 5pm.
The U-15 Shiretowners play host to the Royals (Hawley) tonight. Game time is 7:00pm at the senior field.
Update from last night: The U-15 Shiretowners fell to the Oromocto Pioneers last night in exhibition play 12-8. The offence was lead by Oulton, going 2 for 2 and reaching base all 4 times. Hebert, Harding, Morin, and Kennedy each added singles. This loss has to be concerning to coach Garnett heading into playoffs next week, he could not be reached for comment after the game.
The U-15 Shiretowners play Oromocto tonight under the lights. Game time is 7:00pm at the senior diamond. See you at the park.

The U-13 Shiretowners would like to say thanks to all the parents, fans, umpires and field crews for making this challenging summer a successful one.
The U-13 Shiretowners dropped their last home game of the season 7-5 tonight. Black, Lenehan and Schnarr led the way for the home team with a hit apiece. Thornton, Park and Schnarr pitched.
Today, MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson day, the first African American to play in the majors. He made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15th, 1947. Robinson is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame and in 1997 his number, 42, was retired from all of baseball. The first for any professional athlete. #respect, #breakdownbarriers, #Jackie42
