Building this 130+ year old home new from the inside out. Its complicated because the home is balloon framed and takes alot of planning to keep the exterior toung and groove wall sheathing & wood siding intact while removing the existing studs. Supporting the second story walls and roof then building new 2x6 exterior walls from the inside with new windows and door openings. Removing load bearing walls and installing lvl's to give open concept. The old homes were built with alot of rooms closing off the house now clients want open concept to entertain while cooking and have flow thru the home.

I love renovating 100+ year old homes. This particular home is 130 years old. I come in with my carpenters helper and sometimes I have 2 carpenters helpers on a big job like this to demolish the entire inside to the point where it has brought tears to home owners eyes. This is the state of the home that usually does that. They are scared at the condition of the home but they have their trust in me I will built it better then ever. The greatest feeling is seeing them come and ...see the changes and start seeing a smile on their face. Blue prints only give an idea the build brings it to life . This particular home has 6 beams going in for open concept. Several new windows and doors being cut in the exterior. Multiple walls being torn down and rebuilt, entire attic framing being torn down and rebuilt. Stair case torn out and rebuilt. New footings in basement to support the open concept bearing points. All walls and ceilings get taken down to bare studs. The house will get new everything. Im excited to get to the drywall stage and then my favorite part of my builds is the trim and doors I enjoy the alone time no other trades around no carpenters helper just myself and the finishings. Almost done this beast composite deck with covered roof for a trailer. Footings are tricky for a job like this because u are not allowed to dig down and cement in any permanent structures so I got 2'x2' structural concrete slabs dug them I to the ground with drainage underneith then sat a deck block ontop of the slab. #carpentry #carpenter #trexdecking #decksofinstagram #outdoorliving #trailerdecks #redsealcarpenter #ontariocontractors
