Canadians drove home in over 900,000 SUVs and crossovers in 2019, driving sales of the segment up 3 per cent compared with 2018. It was enough for utility vehicles to very nearly account for half of the Canadian auto industry’s sales volume in 2019, a decade after passenger cars last accounted for half the market.
