Ok, I may have gotten a little carried away. 7100 feet of cable. 65 alarm runs plus a crapload of cat 5 and 6. At least it looks all purdy like.... until the drywallers and painters make a mess of it. :) Hardwired Security Solutions www.KeepSafeSystems.ca

The Surrey RCMP is now compiling a database of private citizens and businesses with video surveillance systems. This will assist them in catching criminals faster. Please consider registering your system. Note, registering does not mean the police will have unfettered access to your cameras. This just means they will know whom to contact if the need footage of a certain area. I am happy to help any monitored customer who has had their video surveillance system installed by Ke...epSafe Systems, retrieve video footage for the police at no charge. Together we can help fight crime. To learn more about #projectIris http://ow.ly/e5R150BLmdQ

Now for something completely different. I've never been a fan of the fear mongering which is all too common in the security alarm industry, I prefer to make people laugh. Chaos and Aquarius are two of the KeepSafe Systems Chinchilla Mascots. Thank you Corycatures for the amazing artwork... and for making me look a little younger and less flabby www.KeepSafeSystems.ca for all your Hardwired Security needs. If you need some cool artwork, contact Cory, I suck at drawing. I am much better at pulling my wire.

I like to believe those I know would know better than to call 911 when they see an American plate. Perhaps someone knows someone who does not know better. Pass it on.

So the wife said the two creeks were not loud enough to drown out the neighbours, since I switched to smaller 12 Volt Pumps. So I decided to make a fountain. I didnt like the ones the stores had, so I got creative with my hammer drill and a rock. This is what happens when you ask an alarm guy to do something simple Nobody really "needs" to control their pond creek, fountain and lighting through their alarm panel.... Now the clay in the pond just needs to settle. After that Im going to cut the black pipe to just under water level and maybe toss on a spray head of some sort.

I was rooting around an old dropbox account looking for some chinchilla pictures, for a marketing project I am working on, and I stumbled across this one. I jokingly referred to this as my Red Green Buzzer. While there wasnt any ducttape involved, there was some double sided tape. This involves a long story about a wandering mother system for a client whos mom had Alzheimers. This system had to be installed while she was out of the house. Oh ya, and it was on Bowen Island.... On the first day there, the mother decided she wanted to come home from the mainland, so there was a mad dash to try to get something up and running, plus clean up all signs of my being there. Pictures were taken beforehand, to ensure everything was back in its place. Aaaaanyway..... this wireless chime was the result. I took a wireless router transformer from my truck along with a piezo buzzer and a Paradox wireless Relay Module. I slapped it together with some double sided tape and the customer loved it. Other parts of the system included integration with a wireless paging system, which gave the client instant paging notification of which gate was opened. This was a very large property with several gates. This job was quite different from the normal installation as I ended up running the wire through Garden hose (not to code but it was temporary and needed to blend in) I even ran wire through a conduit hidden in a log.

This is the great thing about hardwired alarm systems. They are generally universally upgradable to newer hardwired alarm systems. In this case I am upgrading an alarm system which was installed around 20 years ago. This happens to be a fairly large system in a 5 level building with 80 zones and 7 separate partitions (areas of the system which arm and disarm individually with different levels of access) The panel I am taking out used to be considered fairly state of the art, ...but it has become clunky and outdated. The new system will have more features and will also be able to be remotely controlled by smart phone App. Gates and doors will also be able to be remotely controlled. The Upgrade is happening tomorrow and to limit system downtime, I am getting the programming ready on my laptop. Once the panel is powered up and connected to the network, I will be able to simply dump the programming from my laptop to the new security alarm panel. The stack of paper on my keyboard is a 100 page programming printout from the old panel. If the system was wireless, all of the 80 detectors would have to be replaced. In this case I only need to replace the panel, zone expanders and keypads. For more reasons why hardwired security systems are better than wireless, check out www.KeepSafeSystems.ca

Great work Vancouver Police Department, finally a video evidence upload portal. In this case I have 4.6 GB of video surveillance to send. Typically this would involve meeting up with the investigating officer to hand off a USB stick. Now I can do the same thing sitting in front of a computer sipping espresso and posting on fecesbook. 40% uploaded now. I need another espresso. Not related to electronic security alarms or video surveillance, but it is important. Bank App fraud is up and the methods may surprise you. Be careful with the Apps you download. https://www.ic3.gov/media/2020/200610.aspx

More and more companies, authorities and institutions use MOBOTIX thermal technology as a #proactive #warning system. MOBOTIX TR (Thermal Radiometry) technology allows you to #measure #thermal radiation in the entire image area and assign a temperature value to each pixel.

KeepSafe Systems 21.05.2020

Occasionally there is a need for an "old school" solution. In this case a very simple custom circuit involving a couple relays, diodes and whosits. The end result a keyswitch bypasses the gate alarm contact, and opens the gate. Once the key is turned back the gate closes and once the gate is closed the gate contact is unbypassed. The white casing is just some Miracle Putty to protect the whosits, so it can all be placed in a box. www.KeepSafeSystens.ca - Custom security solutions

I would say this speaks about many of my self employed friends and customers. Stand strong everyone, what does not kill you makes you stronger. Being self employed is a lifestyle. You gave up the creature comforts of a "real job" when you started on this journey. You have been here before, just in a different way.

Here is the High Def extended zoomed in version of a Mothers Day Robin Hatch. The footage is from a 6 Megapixel Mobotix surveillance camera. What makes this interesting is how the frame rate was maintained at an acceptable level, even though the camera was recording 6 megapixel images. In most cases, there is a trade off between frame rate and resolution (typically inversely proportional) check out the mostly fluid nature of her breathing and movement.. all at 6 Mega Pixels. Happy Mothers Day Update : hatchling just born on Mothers Day. Here is a link to the extended video. It goes from her jumping the moment she feels something all the way to the moment the baby opens its beak for the first time... https://www.facebook.com/949123981872813/posts/2881018508683341?vh=e&sfns=mo This was pulled from the Robin cam this morning. No hatchlings yet, but they must be moving around in the shell, as she keeps tilting her head and listening for something

A live 6 megapixel feed from a mobotix S26 sensor zap strapped to a branch in a bush. So covert, she isnt even phased by it. The actual camera is capable of having two image sensors, so i have a remote close up and an overview, while the bulk of the camera is in the house. More pictures to come of the hatching at www.KeepSafeSystems.ca For security reasons I cannot open the live stream up to the general public but I will post updates

I jokingly refer to my.... ummm... fetish?? with accuracy as "Kraut OCD" but certain instances require accuracy (in my mind every situation) Some camera manufacturers claim using thermal cameras to detect body temperature is a plug and play exercise.... not so much, when accuracy is key. Check out this webinar from Mobotix and see how a properly installed and calibrated MOBOTIX thermal camera can provide a more accurate indication of what is going on.

MOBOTIX cameras on German television! Our #MOBOTIX M12 cameras were shown yesterday on ZDF. As part of the award-winning German documentary program "Terra X-... Fascination Earth: Antarctica". For more than 10 years, the cameras have been providing reliable service in the planets most hostile environment. At the German polar station Neumayer III of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, the extremely robust, maintenance-free and weatherproof MOBOTIX video technology is used for digital image data acquisition. This allows research work to be monitored, weather developments to be observed and the measuring instruments to be kept in view. Neumayer Station III webcam https://bit.ly/2umBHFE
