I can’t catch a break even my horoscope says it’s a work day today!
It’s been a hard year for everyone and I’d like to do something to give back. So, from November 20th to December 20th, inclusive, I shall be giving to a charity of my choice or providing goodwill to those in the community in the amount of $50 for each new client I retain, during this period, who retains my legal services for any matters that will ultimately cost over $500. (This does not include clients on whose files I am currently working unless they have a new unrelated ...matter). What services does this include: Real estate: Purchases Sales Refinances Transfers of Title Family Law: Family court matters Separation Agreements Cohabitation Agreements/Marriage Contracts Unbundled services Wills and Powers of Attorney packages for one person or a couple. Spread the word and let’s get in the holiday spirit
Love my clients! What an amazing Friday surprise! Made my day!!
Had a win for my client today! Problem solved and away they go to live their best lives.
To Toronto today to meet a client and do a will signing then off to Edwards Gardens and Wilket Creek Park for a walk with my son. Reminds me of when I used to go there with my parents and friends many moons ago.
I feel like this picture encapsulates 2020. Self-isolating but plodding on personally and professionally. Picture by @ka_photostudio, model Chloe
Excuse the language but between all of the serious world events going on the Courts only dealing with urgent and pressing matters, the webinars for lawyers rega...rding the proposed reopening, the proposed filing of on line materials, the upcoming changes to the Divorce Act, the CMHC qualifications changing for qualifying for mortgages, the new rules surrounding virtual signing of wills...... I had a very productive and fulfilling day today. I was able to negotiate on behalf of a few clients today to increase their access with their children and move them forward in their family matters. They were happy and grateful and I’m happy I was able to assist. Now the day is done!
Covid 19 brought a sweeping interest in Wills and Power of Attorney’s however now that the number of cases are decreasing it seems that the interest in obtaining these documents is decreasing. Do not wait for the next emergency to properly protect your family and your assets. Act now !
Black out Tuesday
I think we can all relate to this right now. I’m at the point now where I’m looking forward to seeing how we all will have changed (or not) through this process and the creative ideas that will come to fruition during this period.
So many people try to represent themselves in family law proceedings, cut corners by not retaining a lawyer , listen to their friends instead of retaining proper legal advice and this is usually the result when I do get the file.
Covid 19 has challenged lawyers and clients alike to use their negotiating skills and approach this period with a measured response. With the courts being open ...but only dealing with urgent matters, and now pressing matters it has left lawyers to determine with their clients the actual urgency of a particular matter. In the case of Johnson vs Johnson where a mother was attempting to limit the fathers access to only FaceTime as a result of his exposing their child to his extended family, the Judge dismisses the case with the following comments. Quite directly he enunciates the feeling of the courts at this time. Please all be patient with each other. We will get through this but for now let’s all work together. See more
This is my new normal. My banking outfit to get a certified cheque to close a real estate deal.
Wishing this beauty a Happy Birthday with a toast taken pre social distancing.
It seems that things have slowed down dramatically but I am still here to meet your legal needs. I have been assisting clients with parenting plans in the covid... pandemic, I have assisted those requiring wills and powers of attorney and I am assisting my real estate clients buy, sell or refinance their properties. These services can be done in combination of virtual or social-distancing methods. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need legal assistance. I am here. Stay safe everyone and stay strong! See more
Now that’s a good sign
