Today is the day! It's not too late

Friday is the big day!! It's not too late!
We are so excited, less than a week until he does his shave!!!
Evan will be doing his shave a week from today on Friday, June 5th!! It's not too late to help him reach his goal!!!
17 days left I know we can do!!
Good day, everyone, I hope you had a safe and enjoyable long weekend. We are so so close to Evans's goal and only 17 days away!!! Let's help make this shave one to remember!!!
All this will hit the floor on Friday June 5th!! We can't wait!!
We are happy to say we're over halfway to our goal, with a little less than a month to go!!
***Evan and I had a nice long talk last night, we hope everyone is safe and healthy with this new crazy kind of life and have decided to continue with his shave and fundraising!! His new shave will now take place on Friday, June 5th!! Let us help make this his best shave ever!!! I will share the link to donate directly to YACC but as always I will take EMT at [email protected], and if cash is your only option don't hesitate to contact me Kayla Byrne on FB or 769-7314 to work out a safe way to do so!!!
With all the uncertainty lately, we have decided to delay Evans Shave. These are scary times people may not have the funds to donate at the moment, and something like a shave is probably not high on people's list of concerns. To those who had planned to donate you may still do so, it just means you have a little longer to get your donations in, as well anyone who has already donated the money will still be applied to his shave. We are discussing possibly joining the communit...y shave which will take place on May 30th at the Avalon Mall. Thank you for all your previous and continued support!! Stay healthy, From Evan and Kayla!!! See more
Although this doesn't have anything to do with Evans solo shave, I want to make everyone who may be following our page aware of the reschedule!!
Help him reach his goal!! You can donate on the link below, EMT [email protected] or cash to myself or Sharon Keith Evans Byrne
1 month to go!!!
13% of the way towards his goal!! He's so excited for this years shave!
Welcome! Can you believe it is that time again!! We're back for magical year 7!!! This year I will be participating in a solo shave on Saturday, April 4th To date, I have raised $2700.00 for YACC and young adults fighting the biggest fight of their life and can't wait to see what this year will bring!! ... Everyone, in some capacity, has witnessed cancers wrath in their lives and if shaving my head I can help even one person feel a little bit better I say "BRING ON THE CLIPPERS' I am so grateful for all of the support I have received in the past, Thank you and I love you all!!! Feel free to follow me on my Facebook page: Evan Shave for the Brave. For more information, check out shaveforthebrave.ca and youngadultcancer.ca. Have a question? Email YACC at [email protected] or call 877-571-7325. Thank you for your generous support!
Evan and I had a talk Saturday night not only will he be back for shave #7 in the spring but we have also signed him up for something he is pretty excited about. Updates to come if he gets chosen! I keep thinking as he gets older he'll change his mind about the shave but it seems he has an unmatched dedication and as he gets older it gets stronger.
Today a friend of Evans participated in the Shave for the brave. At Mary Queen of the world school!!! WTG Nathan another amazing young man!!!
I love when these memories show up
What many people don't know about Evan Byrne is that he can barely read a word, and what words he can read are more from memories or visual cues, then sounding the word out. He is medically diagnosed dyslexic (reads at approximately grade 1 level. We have appointments several times a year sometimes a couple a month. His school and I are doing so much for him from IEP to extra time when copying from the smartboard, and a tablet supplied by the school board. As well as devices ...and support at home. He gets embarrassed and much more than that he gets discouraged. I have had people say "what do you mean he can't read he seems like such a smart boy" that's a huge misconception with dyslexia. Evan was tested he has a high IQ but he has a hard time putting it to paper or taking it off the page. Shave for the Brave is something that makes him feel unique, makes him stand out and it makes him extremely proud and happy. So when it came to my attention that Geoff Eaton founder and the man behind YACC was an author, I googled it and MAN I was blown away. The book is full of the advice and support I try to give Evan on a daily basis!! So naturally, I ordered a copy. When the book arrived in the mail Evan was excited for me to sit down and read it to him, but I won't lie I struggled and I have only glanced at the pages so far. I hope some of the words in this book stick into his unique and amazing brain! Page 10: "Your grades in school aren't your grades in life" Geoff Eaton. See more
Can we call this a shave-iversary!!! Either way this is an amazing accomplishment!!!
Who knew this would be the start of something wonderful!!!
A throw back to his first shave for the brave!!!
Yesterday at the little gathering at the school one person was quietly in attendance. He didn't draw attention to himself, didn't want to get photographed and declined the offer to get up and speak to the school. Towards the end of the gathering, he slowly and quietly made his way up to Evan, shook his hand and said something just to Evan. Last night while Evan and I are reflecting on the day Evan said something that made me want to cry... In a nonchalant, 10-year-old way Evan said: "he had cancer you know?" This warrior walked up and personally thanked Evan for his contribution, and his efforts. I don't think Evan understands just how much that means. To me it is huge that this man personally wanted to thank him. Evan said it best "cancer makes people sad and I want to help"
Thank you for your time David Brazil
I was Honoured to spend the afternoon at St. Augustine’s Elementary on Bell Island as the Town, School and Myself recognized the incredible commitment a 10 year... old young man has made to making life a little brighter for those facing Cancer. Thank you Evan Byrne for the 6 times you have participated in the Shave for the Brave and the thousands of dollars you have raised to help individuals beat cancer. You are an inspiration to us all. What a proud emotional afternoon. Mr Brian Burke you went above and beyond and have all my respect!! Brian felt Evan needed to be recognized as a leader and man did they deliver. Went up to Evan's school where they had put together a "little something" in Evan Byrne honor. A little something turned out to be our mayor Mr. Gary Gosine, our MHA Mr. David Brazil, a member of our RCMP and all the staff and students at St. Augustines.
Something super exciting is happening today!! Evan doesn't even know about it YET. Stay tuned for updates. As of now I don't even have all the details!!
I want to state because I was asked today. Donations can still be accepted it's never too late to donate to a good causeI want to state because I was asked today. Donations can still be accepted it's never too late to donate to a good cause
Barb is a member of the Shave for the Brave family. She was in line with us last year as well. This year she even gave Evan and his sister quarters when they wanted candy and id given all my change to my Dad to get me coffee. YACC touches all young and old Barb and Evan have become shave buddies!!
When shaving until he is taller than Geoff Eaton looks like it might actually happen!!!
Being this little man's mother is such a rewarding journey. $645.00 raised for such an amazing cause. I hope his heart of gold never tarnishes and he continues to be a warrior for others for many many years. Thank you to all who donated and to his cheering squad this year!!!
Donations are still pouring in! Thanks to cash donations and an EMT he has passed last year's total making this his best year EVER

Every little bit helps!
Almost there!!!
Last night I asked Evan if he doesn't reach his goal will he be ok and he responded with "umm yes, I still helped." I then asked if he ever planned on stopping and he grew quiet for a few minutes, looked at his collection of hats and said "I'll stop when I'm taller then Geoff" and then he cracked up laughing. I'm terrified of that answer for 3 BIG reasons 1. That man is like 8 ft tall. 2. I don't want to picture Evan that big. 3. I want Evan to always continue on this amaz...ing adventure he started 6 years ago without even knowing what it truly meant. I believe the "family" at YACC will agree with my 3 statements, lets all continue to support Evan and YACC with our donations
Tomorrow is the big day!! There's still time to get your donations in before Evans 6th shave, but its never to late to donate in Evans name or to such a worthy cause!! Follow the link or contact me Kayla Byrne or Sharon Keith Evans Byrne for donations!!
Forever proud of this kid
