Ok Cape Breton, We are approaching another Holiday monday, Labour Day September 7/2020. CLOSED MONDAY SEPTEMBER 7/2020 We will be open on Tuesday, Sept 8/2020 9-4 at our 85 Industrial Dr. location in order to accommodate all the bottles that will come in. ... PRECOUNTED ITEMS ONLY!!!!!!!!!! (even glass)

So the first picture is of a regular beer bottle which we get at our bottle depot all the time. The second picture shows what was hidden inside that bottle. This is UNACCEPTABLE Cape Breton. This poses so many health and safety risks to us as depot employees. You are not to put needles in anything else other than regulated containers supplied to you for proper disposal. And FYI, along with needles, we see human waste, animal waste, used sanitary products, condoms, dirty diapers, food waste, and so many other disgusting things . Please be more mindful about what goes into your bags of refundables. Completely disgusting and unacceptable. Do better Cape Breton.

Civic Holiday Changes Ok folks!!! pay attention. Due to the Civic holiday falling on Monday August 3/2020, we will be closed. We will open on Tuesday August 4/2020 but at the 85 Industrial Dr location for this week only. We are doing this because it's bigger and with only being open one day (tuesday, august 4), we need the room for all the bottles that will come in as it will be crazy busy. Monday Aug 3-CLOSED... Tuesday Aug 4 9-4 at 85 Industrial dr. PRECOUNTED ORDERS ONLY NO BLACK BAGS - CLEAR OR TINTED NO BLUE BAG MATERIAL - soup cans, meal replacements, shampoo bottles, etc NO COW'S MILK PRODUCT OF ANY KIND - milk, chocolate milk, yogurt drinks, coffee creamers, etc. We've all had to learn to accept & expect changes in ways we work. We are no exception to this rule. We've been trying our best since April 27/2020 to do this work under very different rules. Please be patient, check facebook often, and call our warehouse at 902-564-5173 to check for changes/information. We are still taking paint, textiles, and electronics! Metals is still on hold. Big Shout out to Cape Bretoners on 'flattening the curve". I would like to take this opportunity to explain how we at Total Recycling Ltd. are operating during these Covid-19 times. Many people ask "why are you only open two days a week? Why aren't you open full time - everyone else is?"... My response to that is: We as bottle depot employees come in contact with germs, bacteria, and potentially, viruses on a daily basis. This is something we accept and deal with regularly. However, this virus in particular can be fatal, transmits quickly, and is not well understood. With that being said, people drink directly from beverage containers. Experts have said that this virus (and other nasty things) can live on surfaces as long as 48 hours or more. So when you bring your bottles in, we let them sit for 48 before we count and sort. I feel employee safety is of utmost importance. I am sorry this is inconvenient for you as a customer, but my employees mean the world to me so I will not put their safety at risk. Is this being too cautious? Maybe it is? I don't have all the answers, neither does anyone else. So for now, safety first. We sincerely thank all Capers for their patience, patronage, and kindness over the past 40 years.

As of Monday April 27th/2020 will open for Mondays and Tuesdays only from 9-4. That being said, we will be understaffed so please be patient. To help things move quick, we are asking you to PRECOUNT your bottles, bag them and clearly mark how many on each bag. No black bags please, clear or blue only. Refundable bottles only so no cow's milk products of any kind. No household garbage please. We will not be allowing customers into the building so we will provide carts in ...the parking lot to place your product. Two customers at a time. We are unable to take your uncounted product at this time and we sincerely apologize. We have to let product sit for at least 72 hours before it is safe to sort and prepare to ship. So please PRECOUNT your stuff. We truly appreciate your business and hope we can all work together to get through these tough times. Please recycle responsibly and stay healthy. Big Shout out to all those who are still working to provide us with necessities, essential services and health care, and to those who clean up after us. Your dedication does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. I hope everyone is doing their best to reduce the spread, stay healthy and sane. We will remain closed this week from March 30/2020 to April 4/2020 and reassess on sunday april 5/2020.... When we do reopen there are ways you can help us at our bottle depot: 1. Rinse all containers 2. Remove caps 3. You can have them counted 4. If social distancing is still in effect please follow that rule. 5. Make sure there is no household garbage that "accidentally" got put in with your refundables. The less germs and garbage the better.
