. Fun fact about this shot. I literally picked up the screen from @betterwithtexture on my way through Kelowna to the venue. I wasn’t sure if I would use it for the shoot or not but I love how it looks here. When planning for this shoot I brought a bunch of decor with me. I had a plan for some areas like the lounge and arch (which I’m still obsessed with) but wanted to play around with ideas for the rest of the space. This screen worked well to close the space in just a... tad and bring focus to one area as we didn’t use any models and kept the ceremony area fairly simple as the scenery really speaks for itself. It’s amazing what just a few well placed and beautiful pieces can add. Something to remember when on a budget. Also don’t feel like you have to follow a trend. . Hello friends I stepped away from social media for a while to have a family vacation and rest up before the Holiday Season. It seems quiet but every planner knows that this time is used to catch up on projects we’ve been putting off, work on next summers weddings (and best case some Fall/Winter events), revamp procedures, maybe touch up the website, and organize!... On a personal note, every time I come back from a vacation I want to purge everything. So I have gone through my closet, my spare bedroom and will be working on the garage soon. And it feels sooooo good! Getting rid of things that no longer serve me and reconnecting with items that I may have tucked away and forgotten. It is so cleansing. So here I am. Back at it and ready to rock 2021. It may seem daunting at the moment with everything that’s going on, but regardless, each year is a gift and an opportunity to refocus on your dreams and goals. For now, I am dreaming of mulled wine and campfires on cool crisp sunny Okanagan days. . Being creative has always been a big part of my life. With parents who met in art college it’s definitely in my blood. So when @rockingridgeranch.weddings invited me to help with a marketing shoot with the amazing @photosbypalamikayla I jumped on the opportunity and let me creative juices run wild. I went for bohemian meets ranch, because well, we were in ranch land! And this scenery was absolutely stunning! Something about this landscape gets inside my soul.... The idea for this arbour arrangement popped into my head almost by accident while working through ideas. I tried to come up with something that I hadn’t seen before and that made sense in this setting. I recently found the large basket and was dying to use it for something. So playing with the current trend of using baskets as artwork on your wall I thought, well why not an arbour? And the material had been sitting in my closet for years waiting to be turned into a blouse. I am so so happy with how it turned out and in love with this shot by Pala. . This weekend was so amazing! Back to back weddings, both very different, both had to shift and change because of Covid, and both were stunning and honestly just perfect! Genevieve & Bobby married under this arbour beautifully and lovingly made by the brides father. I had a vision for the draping to mimic a long veil and worked with the asymmetry of the ivy on the building. One of my carpets placed below and a couple of brass vases held a stunning arrangement from Lisa’s F...resh Cut Flowers mirrored by the larger one above for balance.
