UK This week saw the publication of the new Low Emissions Freight Trial (LEFT) report which claims that Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), fuelled by biomethane gas can provide significant carbon reductions. The report was from the Low CVP group, whose members include a variety of vested commercial interests including heavy hitters such as Ford, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, Babcock, Bosch and BAE. Set against this however are independent views from such as the Road Haulage Associat...ion (RHA) and academic and environmental players including several universities and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). One group keen to publicise the findings of the study is industry trade association the Gas Vehicle Network (GVN) with evidence arising that a switch to the gas meaning carbon emissions could provide reductions of up to 85% on a ‘well to wheel basis’. https://www.handyshippingguide.com//biomethane-powered-hgv #biogas #renewablenaturalgas #biomethane #renewablegas #organicwaste #renewablegas #cleanenergy #cng

More than half of Cherriots buses now get their fuel from landfills. In December last year, the transit provider for the Salem area switched the fuel source for 34 buses from compressed natural gas to renewable natural gas. The two fuels are nearly identical chemically and riders likely didn’t notice any change. But the switch in more than half of Cherriot’s 64-bus fleet is a big part of the transit agency’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also boosting its bott...om line. Renewable natural gas is produced by capturing and processing methane, a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide, from agricultural waste or food decaying in landfills. Buses powered by renewable natural gas still emit carbon dioxide. But using the fuel means capturing methane that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. https://www.salemreporter.com//after-switching-over-half-i #biogas #renewablenaturalgas #biomethane #renewablegas #organicwaste #renewablegas #cleanenergy #cng

Xebec is pleased with the importance given to the development of renewable natural gas and hydrogen in Québec, following the unveiling of the Québec government's plan on November 16, 2020 for a green economy, and the major investments announced in these sectors. Québec’s renewable natural gas target has doubled to 10% by 2030 Within the plan, a minimum of 10% renewable natural gas (RNG) content in the pipeline is targeted by 2030, a doubling of the previous target which was s...et at 5% by 2025. Xebec, whose head office and main manufacturing facility are located on the North Shore of Montréal, is expected to take advantage of these growing opportunities within Québec. Xebec has worldwide experience in deploying over 315 renewable natural gas and hydrogen purification installations. By leveraging over two decades worth of know-how and proprietary technology, Xebec has differentiated itself from the competition by providing high reliability and productivity, resulting in significant savings in capital and operating expenses. #xebec #biogas #renewablenaturalgas #biomethane #renewablegas #organicwaste #renewablegas #cleanenergy #hydrogen #greenhydrogen

As part of Xebec's mission to move towards a more sustainable future, the company installed several EV charging stations at its Blainville HQ! Employees can now commute to work on zero emissions and charge up on clean electricity! Did you know that Quebec generated 99.8% of its electricity from renewable sources in 2016, and had the highest percentage of renewable generation in Canada? Hydro was the primary source of Quebec’s electricity, accounting for 95.2% of generation. W...ind and biomass were Quebec’s next largest electricity sources. #xebec #cleanenergy #electricvehicle #electricvehicles #hydro #electricity

According to an EDF study, methane is more than 100 times more potent at trapping energy than carbon dioxide, the principal contributor to man-made climate change. This is a problem as the colourless gas is given off by rotting organic matter. However there is a solution with an added energy bonus. In the US, Southern California Gas has started rolling out locally-produced renewable natural gas (RNG) at many of its natural gas fuelling stations across the state. The utility ...recently began purchasing RNG from Pixley-based Calgren Dairy Fuels, which captures the greenhouse gas-producing manure from dairy farms and turns it into RNG, a renewable fuel. RNG is an important tool in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which cause climate change, and we're looking forward to major growth in production of this renewable fuel in California, said Jawaad Malik, SoCalGas vice president of gas acquisition. With the right incentives in place, RNG has significant opportunity to help the state move toward carbon-neutrality in not only the transportation sector but in many areas where traditional natural gas is now used. https://www.engineerlive.com/cont/how-can-we-get-fuel-waste #biogas #renewablenaturalgas #biomethane #renewablegas #organicwaste #renewablegas #cleanenergy

My husband and I live in an old house which over the years has been heated with oil, electric baseboards, and for the past thirty years, with a natural gas furnace. Although natural gas is considered a cleaner fossil fuel than coal or oil, it is extracted from the ground by fracking and has a much higher carbon footprint than electricity. To tackle global warming, we need to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases which trap heat in the atmosphere. About 11% of emissions come... from residential buildings, so the decisions we make about home heating and cooling can make a big difference to our carbon footprint. Installing an electric heat pump is the best energy efficient and low emission choice for new homes or switching out baseboard heaters. But it is an expensive option if you already own a natural gas furnace. Luckily, homeowners in B.C. who use natural gas have another great option which is to switch all or some portion of your monthly bill to renewable natural gas. https://www.vernonmorningstar.com//holm-renewable-natural/ #biogas #renewablenaturalgas #biomethane #renewablegas #organicwaste #biofertilizer #renewablegas #cleanenergy #wastetoenergy

Today, the Government of Québec announced an ambitious plan for the development of a green economy and to fight climate change. This plan gives an important place to the development of renewable natural gas and green hydrogen projects in Quebec. Xebec congratulates the government on this announcement and is ready to actively participate in the bioenergy projects that will be developed in all regions.
