Discussion of the week pertains to PANOREX STEP WEDGE or quality assurance. Notes: RCDSO sent out reminder a couple of years ago that "Records must be available as evidence that photographic quality control is being done every day of use. Records must be maintained for 6 years. These requirements also apply to panoramic x-rays machine." This applies to analog or digital pans. Ministry of Health and Long Term care confirmed that exposing an empty pan or a metal object does not... provide necessary information for photographic quality control. The same concept applies to intraoral quality assurance. A coin or paper clip is not considered best practice for receptor QA. The easiest way to do your panorex QA is to use a panorex step wedge that is easy to compare on a daily basis, easy to expose and complies with the requirements as a best practice. According to HARP, your panorex machine must have a quality control process similar to your intraoral machine.
