Hello Yale Families! We would like to show our appreciation for our teachers this holiday season. In order to do this in our current Covid cautious environment we have made a plan! We are asking anyone that would like to, to drop off food (either homemade, or store bought) to Stacy’s house on December 14th at any time. We are asking that you have your food separated into individual bags that we can then place in the goodie bags. If you are able to donate, please email to [email protected] to get the address and make arrangements. Thank you for helping us lift our teachers and to make their holiday a bit more bright.

Yale PAC 19.11.2020

Hello Yale families! Of course it wouldn’t be a proper beginning to the school year without a PAC meeting. We are pleased to announce that our first meeting will be held on October 21 at 7:00 pm in the library/learning commons. We need to hold our AGM to elect executive positions and we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to discuss funding. * Although Mr Sarowa has arranged for appropriate physical distancing, we would appreciate it if masks could be worn as an added precaution *

In case anyone missed the email from the school yesterday... Good evening Yalions!! We are so looking forward to having you back at school tomorrow. We would like to remind you of just a few details to make your day go smoothly.... Make sure you logon to your student portal account and look at your timetable one more time before arriving because it may have changed. You need to know what your Block A classroom is. We have 8 entrances into the building. You will be required to do a health survey daily. Your block A teachers will instruct you with more details tomorrow. Wear a mask, enter into the building, hand sanitize and go directly to your classroom. REMEMBER: If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms you must stay home - DO NOT ENTER THE SCHOOL. Dismissal time is: grade 9's leave at 11:15 am, grade 10's leave at 11:25 am, grade 11's leave at 11:35 am, grade 12's leave at 11:45 am. For anyone wondering about Grade 9 orientation, this is from the principal, Mr Sarowa. We are not having a grade 9 orientation for numerous reasons this year. We will be making a video for the grade 9s and sending it out. With only one course at a time in the building, it will be much simpler getting them to their spot.

Yale PAC 24.06.2020

In September 2016 Paula Schieven and I were tasked, as members of the Yale PAC Executive, to create a Facebook page that would help communicate to Yale parents/guardians the important happenings at Yale. We have done so as our youngest children began walking the halls of Yale, as their older siblings had done before them. We did our best to keep up with what was happening at Yale. Paula was a great story-teller and fun post creator versus my matter of fact, here’s-the-info ...approach but it worked for us. For the last four years we’ve answered your questions in our inboxes morning, noon and night, long weekends and summer vacations. We hope you found the information we shared to be uplifting, enlightening and useful. It is now time for us to say goodbye and pass the reins to the next generation. Paula bid the Yale PAC Facebook Page farewell a little earlier this year in March. Shelley Godwin jumped on board in May. Shelley, a current PAC executive member and parent who will be at Yale next year, will be taking over from us as we watch our grade 12’s walk across the convocation stage and onto their paths to the future. I will ask you for patience as this school year ends and as the next one begins. We do not, generally, know any more information than can be found on the Yale or SD34 websites or in the emails you receive from the school. Its where we go to find the info and would highly recommend you check out those places first before asking us. Shelley, as well as I, work outside of the home so prompt responses won’t always be possible, especially in the summer. At the next PAC meeting, hopefully in September, another person will join Shelley to monitor and administer this page. Until then please do your research and then reach out to the Yale PAC Facebook page. That is unless you just need other parents input then inbox away, we can be your objective sound board. I highly recommend parents getting out to the PAC meetings as there’s loads of information shared (including answers to questions from parents who ask us PAC exec members), and you get to meet the admin team and teachers in an informal setting. You also get to determine how funds are spent within the school and know why the funds are being requested. Your kids do not share much once they hit high school and this is a great setting to know more about what is happening at Yale. Plus, it really does not require much of a commitment from you other than 1 night a month (please note months like December and March usually do not have meetings as well as obviously summer break months). It has been a pleasure serving you all on PAC Executive and thank you for the memories. Sincerely, Lisa Samplonius

Dear Grad parents, An email was sent from the school with all of the convocation details. Dear non- grad parents, Thank you for your patience as we all deal with life with Covid-19 and what that means for us all and realize a lot of the recent posts clogging your feed have been grad related. Other than a link to the livestream I anticipate this being the last information based Grad post.
