The Afghan soldiers arrived in Toronto on September 21, 2017 to partake in the 2017 invictus games. To show our appreciation for their efforts, a gofundme account has been set up to raise money which they will use to purchase better medical equipments.

Edmonds People in Community (EPIC), the City of Burnaby and the Burnaby Firefighters ...Charitable Society have set up a Fall Clean Sweep at the Edmonds Community Centre on Saturday October 7th. Please see attached poster. Registration begins at 9:45 am Followed by clean-up at 10 am to 12 pm. After 12 pm, there will be a BBQ for all participants! This is a great opportunity to volunteer and give back while having fun :) YAPABC will be issuing volunteer letters upon request! See you there!

Thank you to BCASA for helping us host the volleyball tournament at the 2nd annual YAPA BBQ. Thank you to all the players who gave it everything they had! Playi...ng in the heat could not have been easy. The finals were a best of 3 series that went down to the wire. It was experience that came out on top. 2nd place in the tournament was the youthful, high flying PowerPacks lead by team captains Raheem and Mashal. And the winners of the tournament were the veteran Firefighters lead by team captain Roman and captain Masi. What happens when members of the community come together for a good cause? Magic! Thank you to each and every one of our attendees at YAPA’s 2nd annual BBQ! Sp...ecial thanks to BCASA for running an amazingly fun volleyball tournament! So grateful for the generosity of our wonderful community! Together with all of your contributions, we helped raise $750 at the BBQ and another anonymous donation of $250 for a GRAND TOTAL of $1000 to Children Without Borders!! These funds will go directly to giving a child in Afghanistan an opportunity for an education! Not too bad for a day of burgers, volleyball and lots of sunshine!
