Yarmouth Area Community Fund 13.02.2021

We wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas! We are aware of the current needs in our community so the Yarmouth Fund committee agreed to add four more grants for 2020 by giving to the Salvation Army, Sainte-Anne-du-Ruisseau Social Aide committee, the Food Bank and to help with the delivery of Meals on Wheels. We hope this will make Christmas a little better for those affected especially by restrictions caused by the Covid 19 virus.

Yarmouth Food Bank. During this Covid 19 pandemic, food banks around the country have been needed by many. The Yarmouth Fund was very pleased to be able to help with a grant. Local volunteers work very hard to help organize and disburse food so that no one will be hungry.

Through the Sainte-Anne-du-Ruisseau Social Action Committee, under the guidance of Deacon Bruce, many people in the Argyle area have been helped. The Yarmouth Area Community Fund is always pleased to be able to help with the good work this committee carries out.

The Canadian Mental Health Association SW Nova sponsors a program in the High School called NEW ATTITUDES. This program educates and raises awareness about mental illness to Grade 11 and 12 students. The Yarmouth Area Community Fund grant will support presenters who spend 20 minutes each, speaking about a particular mental illness that has affected their life. This program has been well received by both students and educators.

The Yarmouth Area Community Fund is very pleased to offer a scholarship to a local graduating high school student. For this year, our first scholarship is being presented to Noah Wilcox in recognition of Academic Achievement and Leadership in Community Involvement. Making the presentation is Peter Eldridge, Co-Chair of the Yarmouth Fund. For "Mr" Eldridge, this brings back fond memories of his many years working in the Yarmouth High School.
