As a teacher, one common thing I have noticed from our youths of today is the lack of knowledge of different world issues. Many are not aware of current events happening within the city, in our country, and the world. Many parents often complain about their child unable to extend his/her thoughts when writing essays or answer questions thoughtfully. The common reason for such problem is the lack of background knowledge. If you don't know, how can you have an opinion? I cam...e upon this website www.ted.com. If there is one thing I would like my students to wish for, then it will be "the thirst for knowledge" by taking it upon themselves to open to new ideas and possibilities by creatively think the unthinkable.
