Every February, Canadians are invited to participate in Black History Month (BHM) activities that honour the legacy of Black Canadians. At YEEPI Education Foundation of Calgary Inc. we will be hosting events to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians. Many not-for-profit organizations, including YEEPI Education Foundation of Calgary Inc., rely on the support from individuals, volunteers, agencies, and for-profit entities for income. In the past 11 years we have partnered with many organizations in Calgary and Suriname to carry out our vision and mission. In 2010, almost 1 in 2 Canadians (47%) volunteered their time, energy and skills to not-for-profit and charitable organizations. This year, due to the impact of covid-1...9, we were restricted in the traditional way we’ve raised funds. But, Marie Standing and her family, devoted a lot of time in organizing a virtual cooking class for YEEPI Foundation. Master Chef Antonio Tardi and his wife Monique, with their vast experience that stretches across Europe, the Americas and Asia, volunteered their time to lead an Italian-Surinamese Virtual Cooking Class. This class was well-received by participants in Canada and Suriname. Most small firms rely on business from local customers, especially during this covid era. Antonio and Monique are knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly and they are passionate about the art of cooking.
