It’s not easy to be a minimalist in a mass media world. Advertisers constantly bombard us with the message that material accumulation is the measure of success. They exploit the fact that it’s a lot easier to buy status than to earn it. How many times have you heard that more is better, fake it ‘til you make it, or clothes make the man? Truth be told, products will never make us into something we’re not. Designer handbags won’t make ya rich, pricey garden tools won’t giv...e us green thumbs and high-end cameras won’t turn us into award winning photographers. Yet we feel compelled to buy, and keep, stuff that holds a promise - to make us happier, prettier, smarter, a better parent or spouse, more loved, more organised or more capable. But consider this: if these things haven’t delivered on their promises yet, it might be time to let them go. Ask yourself what promises you’re holding onto. If you’re needing help, we have a professional organising and decluttering service to guide you through the process. So today I was doing some reading on decluttering - yes that is the extent of my reading material these days - well that and the Vagus Nerve. Anyway I digress. So here’s this interesting piece on the intriguing idea of single bowl eating. Not only would it reduce the tableware in your cabinets, it could make you more mindful and more appreciative of what you put in your body. Eating from a single bowl would focus your attention on the contents- to contemplate, celebrate and ...be thankful for your meal instead of taking it for granted. I don’t think one bowl eating would be too difficult and as the writer said and I agree, the necessity for a plate isn’t really a requirement at all. I also like the connection to Zen philosophy: itinerant monks used to carry one bowl to satisfy their need for sustenance while pursuing their spiritual path. It’s a novel idea but maybe not that silly. I mean once you’ve finished your meal, you’d wash the bowl ready for the next mean. No more dirty dishes in the sink! So what’s your ideal one bowl menu look like? #declutteryourhome #onebowlmeal #onebowleating #reduceyourtableware #minimalistkitchen #lessclutter #lesscluttermorelife #happinessinabowl #professionalorganising #virtualorganizing

In the 1950s, a Home of the Future designed by a plastics manufacturer suggested that all tableware should be made of plastic so that it could be cleaned in a novel way Well that technology was never perfected and the only way for you to convert dirty dishes into clean dishes in your primitive home is to was them Dirty dishes pile up in the neatest of homes. It’s a given that if you have kids and with so many working from home now, dishes end up in every room and corner o...f the house. To ease dish clutter, make it a rule to wash your dishes soon as possible. If you have a dishwasher, you’ll have a little more flexibility. By emptying it as soon as a cycle is finished, you have a place to conceal your dirty dishes. Run the rinse and hold cycle to wash off gunk likely to harden. When the dishwasher is full, run it’s full cleaning cycle and empty it as soon as possible so you can hide more dirty dishes in it. A load that has been rinsed but not washed can sometimes be mistaken for clean. To prevent this error, put a refrigerator magnet on your dishwasher door when you run a rinse and hold cycle to indicate the dishes are still dirty. When you get around to running a full wash, remove the magnet. Whenever you wash your dishes, evaluate their condition. Are they worthy of your table? Chipped or cracked dishwater is unattractive and the imperfections can harbour bacteria. Dump damaged dishes.

Anticipating guilt for getting rid of something, having a sense of obligation to keep items, or feeling sentimental about items prevents you from decluttering. However there are solutions. If you are hanging onto kids things, consider if you have those same items from your childhood. If you do, are they meaningful to you, do you actually pull them out and look at them, or so they just take up space? If you don’t have any of these items from your childhood, do you miss them? ...Do you feel like your life has less quality because you don’t have access to your childhood memorabilia? If you want to limit the number of sentimental items you hold onto, consider getting a box for each member of your family. Place the items you deem most special in the box. When it is filled, sort through and reprioritize, discarding the items that are not as special. Time helps bring clarity to what you really want to keep. Share the wealth. Some of these special items you could share with other family members or friends, or you could donate them to charity and allow someone else the enjoyment of them. #declutter #declutteryourlife #emotional attachment #emotionaldetachment #organiseyourlife #yellobeantribe #mindfulness #consciouscleaning #mindfuldecluttering #consciousorganisation

We’ve all experienced that just in case mindset. You don’t know what the future holds, you consider scenarios where you might need a particular item, and you fear if you get rid of something, you may not have enough when you need it. But this doesn’t have to be a barrier in you moving forward on your path to decluttering. There is a solution. As you sort through your things, anything that you want to hold onto just in case put it aside, in a corner of the room or in a b...ox. Keep your momentum going with sorting through other items, then come back to the things you set aside. If you find yourself resisting any part of the process, or find it to hard to do on your own, consider asking for help - from a loving and non-judgemental friend or family member, or professional organizer. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Sometimes a jumpstart is really helpful. #professionalorganisers #professionalcleaningservices #homedeclutteringtips #homedecluttering #homeorganising #declutteringactionplan #yellobeantribe #upcycle #professionalcleaning

A Time magazine article entitled Perils of the Simple Life opened with the observation that the gurus who promote the pleasures of unadorned living are discovering that success brings unexpected complexities. Going to extremes will have the reverse effect, making life harder. By definition you can’t buy simplicity, writes publisher Larry Roth in his newsletter, ‘Living Cheap News’. You can’t make simplicity. Simplicity comes from within. It’s a human quality. In stre...amlining your life don’t go overboard. For example, reducing your wardrobes to subsistence level will yield only a temporary experience of simplicity. If you’ve resolved to make your life simpler, then you’re well on the road to achieving that. Some people, however, mistakenly believe that simplicity means having less of a life / and not being as happy, independent or comfortable as they once were. Those who scoff at the notion of making their lives simpler might believe that the sacrifices are too great. Yet the opposite is true. If you’ve resolved to make your life simpler, you’re likely to be happier, more independent and aultinately more comfortable. It’s not necessarily less of a life - it’s a different life. You don’t have to stop everything to get organised; you just have to start. Start somewhere right now. Start with the most visible. Tackle the stuff on the floor and countertops, for example. Then work your way inside cabinets and drawers. Seeing clear and obvious results will boost confidence. Start with something small. Choose a purse or glove compartment or junk drawer. Empty it completely. Sort into four categories: keep, toss, relocate or donate/sell.... Start with one thing. Do one thing that will make your life easier. For instance, if you are always searching for your keys, put a hook or basket by the door for them. Every time you cross a cleaning or organising chore off your to do list, reward yourself by doing something on your can’t wait to do list. Look at decluttering as an opportunity to share your abundance. There are people who could really use the stuff that you aren’t using. Like many of you, we consider our four-legged friends members of our families, which is one reason we include our pets in any of our celebrations. What are the main challenges for homeowners when it comes to transforming their home into a more sustainable environment? Depending on where you are in the process, it can seem overwhelming. Our best advice is to take things one at a time. Start by targeting areas that directly impact your family’s health, like replacing cleaning and lawn chemicals with biodegradable products that rebuild health for you and the environment. Can you explain the benefits of composting within th...e home to someone who has never experienced it? With Bokashi composting, you use probiotics to easily get started in your indoor kitchen compost bin. The probiotics ferment (like beer or wine) your organic waste in your kitchen. Which means you can recycle typical no-no’s like meat and dairy, preserve more good-for-the-Earth nutrients, and greatly reduce smells. Why are microbes essential in the environment? In nature, the ecosystems that are diverse and dominated by beneficial microbes are the healthiest. That’s because over time, these microbes have co-evolved with us, animals, plants, and the environment to provide us all benefits. In return, they get things like food and a place to live a symbiosis. How do probiotics play a role in our health as humans? They’re essential. Good microbes (probiotics) help digest food and reduce inflammation. They help regulate our immune system and form protective barriers on our skin. And they create healthy substances, called postbiotics, which are building blocks of healthy cells in people, plants, and animals things like vitamins, antioxidants, and organic acids. How can we get our family involved in composting and becoming more sustainable? Involve everyone in the process and brainstorm ideas together. Kids love to feel like they’re contributing, so work with them to figure out how they can help compost organic scraps. Open up a dialogue about who and what these changes impact, from their own health to the planet’s. Recent research has shown that rather than eliminating all the microbes, it can be more advantageous and effective to replace ‘bad’ microbes with ‘good’ ones to preserve health. There is potential for probiotic cleaners to do just that in hospitals, schools, and homes. New research out of Italy shows an 83% reduction in surface pathogens such as Staphylococcus spp., Enterobacteriaceae spp., Acinetobacter spp., Mycetes, Pseudomonas spp., Clostridium difficile when using a prob...iotic cleaner containing Bacillus spp compared to chemical-based cleaning strategies such as bleach. Additionally, the probiotic-based cleansing system demonstrated little to no impact on worsening the risk of antibiotic resistance, which is a common issue associated with chemical-based cleansers. Kiko Probiotic Cleaners break down and eat up grime, dirt, and odours, leaving behind a microscopic clean and the delicate scent of essential oils. SHOP NOW. LINK IN BIO. USE CODE - YELLOBEAN

Hygge decor is intended to promote a sense of calm and peace in the living space. Since we make sense of, our experiences and environment through the use of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell, it may come as no surprise that creating a cozy living space would help us feel less anxious and promote a sense of emotional well-being and safety. These feelings of comfort and safety can better allow us, and those sharing the space with us, to let down our guards and be more presen...t and open to connecting with one another. Physical Benefits: *Improved sleep *Weight regulation *The decrease in cortisol (stress hormone) spikes *The improved practice of self-care *Reduced need for unhealthy coping behaviours like alcohol or drugs A hygge-style environment promotes an atmosphere of safety and comfort, where our minds and bodies can feel more relaxed. In a space like this, there is much less need for us to scan our environment for threats. Spending time with those who are most important to us creates a sense of belonging and connection that research continues to show impacts our health and well-being. We feel more confident when connected with others, we feel safe to take risks and we are more open to practicing vulnerability with others, all things that can be facilitated within a hygge-style living space. #hyggestyle #hyggestyleliving #wellbeing #feelingsafe #friendsandfamily #yellobeantribe #createwhatyouwant #ownerofyourlife #choiceisfreedom
