Covid Intake Rules to maintain Social Distancing. Please read before your Appointment at Yellow Dog. If you are sick, stay Home. ... One Human client per dog/s. Please wait outside with your dog/s at your scheduled appointment time. You must be on time for all grooming appointments as overlap is not permitted. Check in will take place outside the shop when possible. We will be standing 2 meters apart. No collars or leashes in the shop. Dogs will be placed on a kennel leash and moved into the grooming area. Grooming may take more time due to Covid procedures. Please wait for your phone call to pick up your dog. We will not de-dematting dogs. Matted dogs will enjoy a short Spring clip. We highly recommend a shorter clip at this time to make this haircut last. Staffing is limited at this time to maintain social distancing in the shop so your patience is much appreciated. Through disinfecting and cleaning will be taking place with each dog and PPE will be worn by all YD Staffers. Thank you for your understanding, PS: We are working hard to return over 500 messages. Our phones are ringing off the hook. Emails and phone messages are in the hundreds. We are working to respond to all requests asap but it will take time. Ok. As you may have heard we have the approval to open on Tuesday May 19th. There will be changes. There are guidelines that we must now adhere to. Things will take longer. Precautions will be put into place over the next few days that will ensure the safety of staff & clients. At this time we have a waiting list in the hundreds. We will try over the next few days to return these calls and emails. It will take time. Right now I am concentrating on gathering together the staff and making sure when we can accommodate you in the safest way we can upon reopening. Every day we wait to hear the news of when we can open again. Most days we hear nothing. Dog Grooming is its own very special niche industry...the laws are vague at best. But today we got this from a Joint Advisory Council to those in the pet industry who have been petitioning government on behalf of groomers in Ontario for information on safe reopening. This is what they said. "We have received word from the Ontario government via the Canadian Federation of Independent Busi...ness (CFIB) that grooming services are NOT included as businesses in the curbside allowance starting tomorrow, Monday May 11th. There have been conflicting reports from different municipalities. If you have an email or letter from a provincial government source stating otherwise please share this back to us at [email protected]. Weve been working to have grooming businesses declared essential to, at minimum, provide urgent services for things such as. Safe removal of severe hair/fur matting; Trimming of overgrown nails that could lead to gait problems or injuries. Nail trimming refers not only to dogs and cats but to reptiles, birds and small mammals; Helping animals with skin conditions and irritations that lead to impending infections issues; Any issue listed above or other that, if not treated, would lead to veterinary intervention. At this time, animals with urgent issues will need to be seen by a veterinarian. We will keep you updated as news becomes available. Rest assured we are not stopping and will continue to push this agenda further for our groomer members that have brought this issue to our attention" So we wait. Well its been a week since we closed the doors due to Covid. I miss you all. How are you all keeping up on things...like brushing your dog? You know brushing and combing your dog daily will help keep them comfortable and matt free. We can do this. I haven't brushed Wilson, my dog since we closed. Its about time I did. Due to Covid 19 & the safety of our staff members and clients Yellow Dog will be closing temporarily. We will open again as soon as we can. This has been a very hard decision that I hope you can all understand. With a staff of 10 I need to take care of the people who take care of your dogs. This is a big undertaking.
