We will be making simple ornaments that can go on your Christmas/Holiday tree! Please let the Program Coordinator know by Facebook message or email ([email protected]) if you plan to attend. MONDAY, DEC. 7, 4-6PM: GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING We will have pre-made gingerbread houses that folks can put together and decorate! There will be small prizes given out for those who can decorate their houses the most colorful, the silliest, etc. Please let the Program Coordinator know by Facebook message or email ([email protected]) if you plan to attend. MONDAY, DEC. 14, 4-7PM: COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS PROJECT In partnership with Dudes Club, we will be getting together to take part in a Community Christmas Project to provide Holiday cheer to those in need. We will provide ALL necessary supplies. Please let the Program Coordinator know by Facebook message or email ([email protected]) if you plan to attend. WEDNESDAY, DEC. 16, 4-6PM: HOLIDAY SOCIAL In partnership with Dudes Club, we will be getting together to have a Holiday social. Wear your pajamas, eat some snacks, watch a Christmas movie, and even get a present! This event is ONLY open to youth who have already filled out and returned their registration form. If you are interested in attending but are not yet registered, send us a Facebook message or email ([email protected]) and we will send you a registration form! 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: DAY 14 Today, let's highlight disabled women in the conversation about gender-based violence. First, it is important to remember that although this image highlights a wheelchair user, disabilities come in many forms -- both visible and invisible. ... This fact sheet by DAWN Canada does a great job if explaining the impact on violence against disabled women, so please give it a read: https://www.dawncanada.net//women-with-disabilities-and-v/ Here's an overview of a few points from that document: -Disabled women are at risk of violence from caregivers specific to their disability, which is a unique experience at the intersection of gender and disability -Disabled women experience significant barriers to reporting the violence they experience that differ from women without disabilities -Emergency shelters often lack the disability aids necessary for women living with various disabilities (e.g., equipment for the hearing impaired) -Disabled women are likely to experience infantilization, dehumanization, and isolation from others that makes them very vulnerable to gender-based violence It is important to center disability in conversations about gender-based violence, so that no women get left behind!

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: DAY 13 When talking about gender-based violence, especially here in the North, it is absolutely critical to include Indigenous women. ... The intersections of colonialism and sexism lead to the enormous rates of gender-based violence we see against Indigenous women. From Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) awareness, to high rates of incarcerated Indigenous women, forced sterilization, and engagement with the child welfare system, we know that Indigenous women need to be at the center of our activism against gender-based violence.
