I've been taking a bit of an IG break but I've been working on a bunch of projects, including this century old Fir door. Just finished up this big Bertha of a mantle the other day. It's a 8 x 8 handhewn old growth Hemlock barn beam. I removed about 6x6 worth of material to hollow it out and then cleaned it up with the restorer tool to pop bring out some detail. I had fill in a few mortises and that match up the grain. ... This 100 yr old beam really put up a fight .
